Trailer hitch ball

Please indulge ignorance, but, why don't they use trailer hitch and ball type hook up for implements?
Seems to me it would be easier?

Lamont........the 11-hole drawbar will be leveraged into rotating the ball right outta the cup. That is WHY they use clevis hook for hooking up things to the 11-hole drawbar. Later 8N's have an under the tranny drawbar that you can use for typical trailer ball hookup iff'n yer trailer tongue is long enuff. I bought exchangeable balls from U-Haul. Works fer me ........Dell

Probably a hold over from horse drawn equipment which hitched to a single tree.

A trailer hitch ball in the draw bar with a anti rotation bracket works great I bought mine thru Agri supply, TSC also has them. I can raise the tongue with the lift enough to dump the trailer also hooking up when you can raise and lower the ball makes it mighty easy.

Most ;likely because the ball type set up did not come out till many years after the tractor and such equipment. Plus the first tractors where set up so they could be used in place of a team of horses on a lot of equipment

The reason I was asking, I have a 50 hp Long tractor that I cut and bale hay with. I use a New Holland 479 haybine and a Vermeer 5400 round baler. Over the years the hole in the draw bar has become worn to the point that I am going to have to replace the draw bar. Sometimes my pea sized brain gets me into trouble but I thought converting to a ball set-up might solve some problems. However, I wonder if the torque produced on the draw bar during turns might cause some problems. As I see it it would try to twist or rotate the draw bar. Don't know it this would just move the wear from one point to another?
