    Thanks for response. If you turn the tractor off with the shredder up it doesn't take very long (say 3 or 4 minutes) for the shredder to go all the way down. So, that's an apparent characteristic of the seals being worn out. I did change the hydraulic oil and filter and cleaning a screen there...

    Yes I did. It does do different things at different settings. On one setting, it hops no matter where the lever is. On the L/D setting is where it will stop if you pull down on the lever some. Actually, that is lowering the shredder about 1/2 way.

    Yes sir. 11 gallons of JD Hydraulic oil, new filter and cleaned a metal screen that is about a foot long from a side drain plug behind the filter housing. I'm reading the service manual now, but I'm in over my head.

    Jack the tractor up. Remove wheel and wheel hub from the axle. Remove the four bolts you are talking about. There is a seal in there you can replace. Good luck.

    I am looking for a place online to purchase the end cap that go over the ends to the load control shaft and seals. I am missing a cap off of a 3020 and a3010. JD says they are not available and I cannot find on the web... yet. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
