Crankshaft gear puller?
My Dad needs me to find him a gear puller for the crankshaft, he has to replace the timing gears on a 601 he has and was able to get the camshaft gear off but not the crank one. The manual shows one but I sure would not know where to start to find that as they are so rare. Or do you'all make... -

Ford 4000 Bush Hog/rotary cutter size
One more question, I don't understand the problem if I don't run the top link? Is lifting the only reason you guys don't recommend a 3 point hookup or is it something else like the stress during turning? thanks -

I have a later model Ford 4000 diesel. As far as I can determine, the recommended cutter size is 8'. These are scarce as hen's teeth in the used market, which is all I can afford. I mean, I can't find ANY for sale within 2-3 hours drive. How taxing is it to run a 10' on this 55hp tractor... -

4000 stabilizer bars?
I wasn't clear, I should have said I have the bracket "style" of the ones pictured on the left, but I do have both sides. Now I have to try and see if a Rural King or TSC has a pin that will fit the lift arms or if I have to make a trip to the super expensive NH dealer. Thanks again. -

Have to get some tractor tires for my new to me Ford 4000. The size is 16.9 - 30 When I called the store up I had a choice of BKT which is 8 ply, or Firestone which is 6 ply. I really wanted the made in the US Firestone but was afraid it would be too prone to punctures from stobbs and...- M-Farm

641 bad blow by
That's not a bad idea. I had a leak between two cylinders on my head gasket, at first it did not produce much exhaust steam but it did eventually. Had to replace twice, second time I finally did it right with copper coating, running a tap down the stud holes, proper torquing etc. Pay attention... -

Thanks Sean, that is really helpful. I have the bracket on the left, but the lift arms on the right? I will have to get some pins for my lift arms, and probably just use the adjustable style stabilizers mentioned above. I do have that factory flat bar with 3 holes depicted in the picture on... -

4000 stabilizer bars?
I have one of those that was left at our farm when we bought it, but it appears to be the same basic length as a regular flat bar stabilizer? I think a regular flat bar is too short, I may have another look tonight at home though. The one that I have has a lot more bend to it than the... -

Thanks to everyone, I may have to go to the dealer and see about the "special pins" you are talking about, if they are just simple stabilizer pins I can pick up at the local store then I will do that, my only concern is if they squeeze the channel too much when I tighten them? They currently... -

Ford 850 Project Tractor Candidate
X2, with those tires and that solid looking, and after driving it I agree. $3k is too steep the way it sits though, at least for around here. Tractor looks pretty good to me, I've got an 850 as well (is that a straight pipe instead of a muffler?).
