Keep the 1979 or buy new?

I havent seen any running small 4x4 diesel tractors with a loader and a box scraper for $3000 in many years. Locally I think I can sell the old Ford for $7000-$8000. Most in that price range are faded, rusted, super clapped out. Mine is tiny, but cute and runs well. https://youtu.be/8OkXiJyvqZ0

Keep the 1979 or buy new?

The advert said 0% for 84 months. Id pay it off in 18 months or so. I do tend to see quite few Kioti tractors in AZ. I didnt realize they werent very popular. The old Ford does all right, but oil filters I have to get online, air filters I can get close and dremel to fit.

Keep the 1979 or buy new?

Hello tractor folk. Ive got one acre, horses & assorted critters, and a couple tractors. A 1948 John Deere B that runs, but needs work (its supposed to be a free time project). Ive also got a 1979 Ford 1100 that is my little helper. The 13 hp Ford punches above its weight. Hes my little...

    John Deere B smoking/blowing oil

I rebuilt that whole shaft. Maybe I fouled up. There is oil slowly dripping out the front, at the alternator pulley.

    John Deere B smoking/blowing oil

Also, I expected the amazon compression tester to be full of oil, but it was clean. The oil doesnt appear to be migrating past rhe rings. Maybe the rattle is a broken valve spring? Would that cause oil to be expelled out the exhaust? Would it still have good compression? Its a lot of oil...

    John Deere B smoking/blowing oil

I have a 1948 JD-B, it sat in a yard for a decade. I resurrected it with a new carb, new ignition, spark plugs, and other parts. The engine had collected a fair amount of rain water over the years. I changed out all the lube. It only ran on a single cylinder for the first few hours, and then...

    1110

I have an 1100 Ford. Its very tiny, but punches above its weight. Itll run the 4 foot wide PTO implements. The loader is a tad weak, but that saves me from dumb mistakes. The gearing is good. Itll grunt surprisingly well pulling dirt. Mine has a little box scraper with an adjuster for...

    John Deere B Update

Welll, I dumped the ATF in the crankcase and split the Seafoam between the fuel and the crankcase. I did a 20 minute run cycle at idle a couple nights ago. It ran smoother, but still smoked like wet grass in tue chimney. Tonight I did another cycle. After a few minutes I decided to...

    John Deere B Update

I dumped a quart of ATF in the crankcase, and split a can of Seafoam 50/50 between the gas tank and crankcase. Then I ran it for 15 minutes. No change (I didnt expect one instantly). I plan to keep exercising it daily for a good heat cycle. Maybe itll pull through without a teardown. I...

    John Deere B Update

The oil droplets are dark black. The Deere managed to mist my pickup truck with it.

    John Deere B Update

So I inherited a 1948 John Deere B. It had been parked outside for over a decade. I replaced the carburetor, rebuilt the magneto and whole ignition system, rebuilt the cooling shaft assembly, installed a new sediment filter and oil bath, a new battery, new bunch of stuff. I changed the motor...

1948 JD B low power output - troubleshooting

One concern I have is that I had to remove the governor assembly housing to pull the fan shaft assembly. I followed the timing instructions for the governor gears when I reassembled. Line up the timing mark on the flywheel and then install the governor with the magneto slot prallel to the...

1948 JD B low power output - troubleshooting

1948 JD B low power output - troubleshooting

Hey fellas. I inherited a John Deere B last year. It sat for a decade or more before I got it. I bought all the manuals for it. It had a bunch of water in the oil bath, which was rusted through, so I replaced the oil bath bowl. I rebuilt the ignition and put on a new carburetor, and shortly...
