    Carberator

Carb does not have a vent cap, elbow filter is clear. I can add gas through the elbow with the fuel line off and see air excape so there must be a plugged vent somewhere. I blew everything out with compressed air and will try again. Not sure where vent is but apprciate the suggestions.

    Carberator

I have a four speed ford (8n?) with the distributor located on the front right corner. The tractor will only run for as long as there is gas in the carborator bowl. Gas flows well from the tank to the carb inlet but there seems to be an air lock I can"t get rid of. If I lossen the fuel line...

8n Battery Discharging when engine is Off

I have a 12 volt converrsion system which has worked fine for the past 2 years. Now when I come out to start the tractor the battery is dead. I charge the battery and she starts fine with the volt gauge indicating that the system is charging fine with the engine running. Atfer the tractor is...

    12v conversion

Bigtree, It took a little doing but my 12v system works great and I am more than happy I made the conversion. I had two problems, first the ampmeter"s + and - terminals were marked backwards. Second I was using a one wire alternater and, despite what some people say, it was necessary to add a...

    Help with 12 v conversion

Good Afternoon Bob, I thought I'd mentioned that the + and - markings I was following were on the back of the alternator. Sorry if I didn"t. I"m going to switch the wires and check the battery with a volt meter. If that dosen"t work I"ll remove the alternator and have it tested. Thanks for...

    Help with 12 v conversion

Dell; It is possible that the ampmeter is marked wrong. The alternator IS wired to the positive marked terminal on the back of the ampmeter and the battery to the negative marked terminal but I'll make a switch and check the battery with a voltmeter. If I don't get a positive reading I'll...

    Help with 12 v conversion

Bob, Thanks for the reply. If I understand your reply than the single alternator wire must go to the negative side of the amp meter and the battery on the positive side. My wiring digram has them reversed. What does the diode do and where would I get it or an idot light? I guess I was not...

    Help with 12 v conversion

I posted my first attempt as a reply and thought I should try again. Sorry for repeating this. __________________________________________________ I'm new to this site and noticed that there are some strong feelings on whether to us the original 6v system or convert to a 12 volt. I'm not...

    12v conversion

I'm new to this site and noticed that there are some strong feelings on whether to us the original 6v system or convert to a 12 volt. I'm not going to get involved in that discussion as I feel it's an individual by individual choice. I would however, like some help with my 12v conversion...
