    Engines - Diesel or Gasoline?

Good discussion, most good facts, and honest opinions. But, one little angle that you may consider. I bought a middle aged gasser a few years back in very good condition at a very good price. Bottom line, so many think diesel is best for them, whether it is or not for their use, diesels draw...

    Blackpowder tips

You will need at least two of those muzzle loaders. Eventually you will wrap one of them around a tree when it goes pop when it should have went BANG. There is a special excitement that only a muzzleloader knows about when you are waiting down in a bottom on a cold foggy damp morning. Big...

    IC14 12V conversion coil

Thanks for flamethrower input. As best I can tell, both coils are 12v coils not requiring external resistor (3 ohm). I found the NAPA part number(s) here in the archives for coils used in 12v conversions. I thought that the SB may be just left off in some discussions, but I found both coils...

    IC14 12V conversion coil

I need a coil for B converted to 12 volt. I don't know the differance between the NAPA IC12 and the much less expensive IC12-SB. Anyone know the differance and correct one for the application? thanks

    B Re-wire

Thanks, big help. In all cases, the charging circuit is separate from the light/ignition circuit all the way back to the generator/volt reg. I am curious as to why. Are you familiar with what is going on here? thanks again

    B Re-wire

Not 6 volt or positive ground anymore. Several things changed from original before I found her. For now, she is in working trim. May restore one day. I did replace a battery cable end today. The new end used a metric fastner. I felt guilty as I am sure that is a violation. tks

    B Re-wire

Thanks, that is exactly the way I wired it. I did not start it (It is raining in Georgia - left it in the shop). Lights and power to ignition ok. Alternator seems ok with meter and I will check charging another day. Bad news is I did not find out for sure what went wrong. In any case, I have...

    B Re-wire

Found the battery dead on my B (have not had it long). When I hooked jumper cables, It did not take long to find the insulation burning off the wire going from bat to alternator (Delco). Don"t know yet if wiring ground or alternator problem. Question - when sizing up the rewire job, I did not...

    truck torque

You hit it dead on. Faster helps which is the main reason I am considering going to 410 rear. The RPMs are so low at 70 mph that if you let it spin on up, it get in a better zone. I never have a problem dropping into second unless the grade is very steep. I have a programmer, but have never...

    truck torque

yes, incorrect muffler more or less. Low back pressure 2 chamber fairly noisy Flowmaster brand. Thought I would tolerate the sound for better performance. Their web site talks about increase horsepower and better millage. No doubt it may breath better at max rpm and increase hp. But that is...

I think I will. It will cost a hole lot less than this fancy muffler I bought. tks

    truck torque

I agree and think I am good. What I did not say is a started with a very small camper. I have the base HD chevy truck. The combination is well within max trailer weight and GCWR (trailer marketed to be towed by standard 1/2 ton - that would be loaded to the max). Even though not duals, with...

    truck torque

OT as I have an older work truck which I can use to pull me and my junk around fine. Problem is I bought a four door chevy with 6.0l gas to haul may family and small camper camping. All was fairly well even after we upgraded to a much larger camper. It was loaded, but I could hit the...
