    Ugly is in the eye of the beholder, I think it could be pretty cool looking. Was it just a sheet metal change or a major mechanical redo, none around here.

    Maybe someone came up with a way to connect two straight disks into a tandem ? Maybe it's a prototype tandem ? Early vertical tillage tool ? I bet there's some farmer engineering there.

    I think if you read your manual you can change the attachment mechanism to accept regular blades.

    15 or 20 foot ? My 4430 has all it wants with a 20, on a coulter cart.

    Check with your local school, it won't be like a professional but if all you want it for is to use for yourself and maybe a tractor ride they might be able to help. See some other projects they have done, some do really good work. I'm sure the folks who think if you can't do it right don't do...

    discbine conditioner - rollor or impeller??

    I was talked out of the impeller type by a district rep,he claimed too much leaf loss in alfalfa. I"m very happy with the two steel rollers on mine.

    I've quit using rechargeables except when necessary. You can buy a really good corded drill that will last many years for what a battery costs.
