    New Starter Shredded

This is where those swirling copper wires were ripped off and shredded up.

    New Starter Shredded

I found a matching screw like the one that was loose. I holds a copper lug where the insulated wire attaches. I don't know for sure it it coming loose was a cause or effect of damage. You can also see the pin that holds that arm is badly bent.

    New Starter Shredded

I was surprised to see a screw that looked like that in there but I never took a starter apart before. I've replaced some starters over the years but never rebuilt one.

    New Starter Shredded

Yeah it was pretty much full of carbon looking dust and pieces of copper wire and wire insulation off of that other wire that is ripped in half, Plus that screw and unrecognizable stuff. I ordered another starter but if possible I would like to find the cause so it doesn't happen again. Gears...

    New Starter Shredded

It was so chewed up in there that I really can't tell. Then again I'm no expert and would have to have a new one to look at to try to put the puzzle together. Whatever that part to the right is called is supposed to have those 1/8" copper wires around the top and bottom but that section at the...

    New Starter Shredded

This starter on my Massey Ferguson 50 has only been on the tractor since September. It was a fairly cheap starter but seemed to be working fine until today when it wouldn't do anything. Upon taking the starter apart it was obvious why. The entire insides were pretty much shredded. The only...

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

I ended up running a tap into the block and installing a 45 degree fitting and an electric sensor. It all worked great. Thanks for the suggestions.

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

Thanks. I was thinking about trying to vacuum out any thread shavings if I have to go that route but grease might work better. I screwed an old fitting I had in the tool box into the hole and it seemed to work okay but that fitting is bad on the other end so the oil line won't screw on it. If I...

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

That's what I was thinking. There doesn't seem to be any obvious signs of cross threading or damage like I would expect so I guess I'll get a pipe fitting and see what happens.

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

This is why my electrical sensor won't screw into that hole without some sort of elbow to get it away from that housing. The mechanical one will work assuming the threads will work.

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

Thanks. I would have assumed that location had to be it except that having a threaded bolt in there seemed weird. I never saw an oil pressure fitting that was bolt threads. I have an electrical gauge and a mechanical gauge but the electrical one would require an elbow to get it away from the...

MF 50 Oil Pressure Sensor Location

I have a MF 50 that didn't have an oil pressure gauge on it when I got it and I can't figure out where the sensor screws in. The only threaded hole I see near the oil filter has a bolt in it so I'm not sure if that could be it or not. I put a red arrow where that bolt is screwed in. Does anybody...

    MF 50 neutral safety switch

    Thanks. I'll try that.

    Neutral Safety Switch Clips

Thanks for answering. I saw in another thread where somebody said to install bullet heads on the wires but I still can't figure out exactly how the little wire clips are supposed to work. I worked building multi-million dollar shovels and draglines most of my life but it seems I can't figure out...
