    231S2 fuel injection pump

DP200 has not got a keyed shaft - DO NOT REMOVE THE FRONT COUPLING, you will lose the timing. You have to time the engine and lock the pump before removing. There is shoulder bolt with a double holed washer near the front on the side of the pump, slacken the bolt, move the washer to the big...

MF-65 3 point height hard to adjust

Wear in the draft control spring/linkage can affect the position control. To test remove the top link, attach a chain in it's place connecting to the tractor on the long pin below the top link bracket so it's not connected to the draft spring. If the linkage behaves itself with this setup then...

    MF 165 oil gauge

Flare fittings will only seal against another flare - you won't seal with a barrel fitting. Make up a short pipe with a female flare and nut on each end (we use brake pipe). They used to have a short pipe fitted from the gauge to the back of the dash to ease assembly on the track. If you...

How to adjust PTO/Second Stage of clutch on MF240

If you've got 'classic pedals' (pivoted from the rear with a link to the clutch) first make sure that the link is in the front hole on the clutch arm, where it comes out of the clutch housing. There is a rear hole which limits the pedal height for loader/transport work but doesn't give enough...

    MF30 died in field ..fixed

Take the tap filter out and throw it away. Get a bit of plastic pipe and push it into the hole where the filter was, cut it off about 3/4" up. Now there's no filter to block and the dregs in the bottom of the tank won't get through. Anything which does go through will get to the main filters...

    CAV Injection Pump Governor Setting

Don't move the spring unless you know where it should go, the engine can run away with terminal damage. The plate should tell you the spring position, it will be stamped between the idle and governed speeds. A number 1 to 9. You've got a peg which can go in one of three holes in the governor...

MF-65 leaking Hydraulic oil from clutch casing.

The tilt ram is likely to be either a bent rod or chrome damage. Both should be checked before re-sealing as new seals will be damaged straight away by damaged chrome and you'll never seal a bent rod. With the transmission, are you sure you haven't overfilled it? It takes a while for the oil...

    MF 180 Quit Running

Do you hear any air hissing when you open the fuel filler cap? It sounds like the cap may not be venting the tank making a vacuum. Every time you open the cap to check the fuel you release it and fuel flows normally.

Bleed fuel after filter change question MF 135

If you fill the tank with fuel after you've changed the filters you should have enough head to bleed under gravity. Be sure to let the filters bleed before cranking to avoid losing prime in the injection pump. I don't think that pump's original.

    Need help! TEF ferguson

Use universal tractor transmission fluid UTTO. Traditionally it would have been SUTO 10/30 or 15/30, but due to the volumes produced SUTO is bizarrely now more expensive than UTTO - just don't put UTTO in the engine. I don't know whether the American SAE oils weightings differ from UK, but...

    Need help! TEF ferguson

Only the very last TEFs had a transfer pump, I've only ever seen one. The fuel usually flows under gravity. Check the fuel taps are on (there's another tap behind the filters on the reserve tank). Check for fuel at the filters - crack a banjo bolt on the inlet side then the outlet checking...
