Thrust bearing 730 2-cylinder power steering

When installing a new thrust bearing in the bottom of the spindle quill, how far do I need to drive it? Flush with the bottom of the quill or seems to me there was a lip inside, possibly driving it down to that lip? I'm not in front of it at the moment so not sure how deep that lip is. Any help...

I figured that would be the case. I appreciate your insight.

    830 2-cyl rack stuck ?

No rust. It's been sitting for about 25 years. I've heard sitting with stale fuel will cause them to stick.

    830 2-cyl rack stuck ?

Ok, the rack on the flywheel side seems to be stuck. The rack on the pulley side moves easily with good spring back. I have the throttle wide open. I can move the flywheel side rack towards the pulley side with a little effort using a screwdriver as a lever but with the flywheel side rack not...

I put muscle to it and can get it unstuck. If it was freed up, I should...

Another 830 2 cyl ES question (seized)

Tried it again this morning with the tractor out of gear and still only able to turn it one way or the other about a quarter turn or more. Not sure if this is a good sign or should the flywheel turn all the way around by hand?

Another 830 2 cyl ES question (seized)

Oops I didn't take the tractor out of gear, that makes sense now. I'll try again tomorrow. Should I be able to turn the flywheel all the way around by hand in neutral then?

Another 830 2 cyl ES question (seized)

I should have mentioned I turned it by hand.

Another 830 2 cyl ES question (seized)

Ok, I took the flywheel cover off and with the decompression lever held back, I could turn the flywheel about a 1/4 turn or more each way. When I turned it towards the front of the tractor when I got where I couldn't turn any further it acted like it wanted to pull the tractor forward. Is this a...
