1947 2N now working in the snow

Dan: Jim in Utah has some excellent flat-head parts; in fact, I think he's got a decent "hulk" flat-head you could build, but it's a straight six. It's in great shape, I think. Don't mean to speak for him, but he may have some use-ful stuff. (What tractor stuff isn't useful? Or is it, "the...

    Uber Dell LIVES!!!

Jim: How did you get an entire quart of barbeque sauce out of Dell's beard, before taking the photo? mono

    Uber Dell LIVES!!!

Put a very fancy, tasteful, cowboy hat on Burl Ives--but fill in the facial hair with a brilliant, full white beard--and you've got a very accurate image: jovial, smart, of course, and LOTS of stories. In other words, a combination of Santa Claus, Burl Ives, and an engineer/mechanic. mono

    Uber Dell LIVES!!!

Yes, Keeper got his quotient, along with a few fries. I think he refused the cole slaw: not chilled. mono

    Uber Dell LIVES!!!

SuperDell, solver of problems, lives, from his fancy cowboy hat, handle-bar mustache, all the way down to his boots. He also can put away an entire side of St. Louis style ribs, fastern" a whole pack of electrons runnin" from a battery--assuming clean connections--all the way to a sparkie. I...

    Name that Implement

A grindstone is a tool, not an implement. Just as a Kestrel is a hawk and not a vulture. Of course, if you attach an elbow gear to the grind stone shaft and run it off your pto, it becomes an implement. Or if you use a horse to power the grindstone, I suppose it is then an implement. But the...

OT: cedar tree windbreak covered in bagworms

A ladder, good hose, and malathion. Mal. is a mild pesticide; good enough for bag-worms; don't need a license to use; use a hose-end sprayer; read instructions on label. E.Z. mono

    corn problems.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I made certain the second planting was the same variety.

    corn problems.

Thanks for this suggestion which I will follow. But still, why would the second planting--same variety--come on at half the size of the first? Surely its stress-related?? It's gotten plenty of water, even though it's hot.

    corn problems.

Sorry for the o.t. but don't know proper forum. It seems every year, no matter how much later I stagger corn planting, ALL the corn tassels at the same time. I waited two weeks for the second planting of sweet corn, but it tasseled, it seems, within 15 minutes of the first planting. So, first...

Heart of America Tractor Cruise Photos

Allan: Isn't that photo quite clearly an accident involving a tractor being hauled on a trailor? Perhaps It is not relevant to "tractor parades," unless you believe no one ought ever to haul a tractor on any highway? My view is "when anyone is hauling a farmall on a highway, the same rules...

    Say Colin King . . . .

I planted seeds (the prevalent Atlantic Giant) into small pots, then transplanted at about six inch stems. I thought you all planted in May. What's the last frost day up there? Can you plant a month early if you transplant under cloth and/or plastic? (You call them "tunnels"?) mono.

    Say Colin King . . . .

How are the veggies going? I put my giant pumpkins under a plastic tent and, as per Bruce Va's advice, buried some buckets for watering/fertilizer. Going great guns. Are you harvesting tomatoes yet? mono
