    1948 A Running Rough

    Check the float for sure, but if it's good, make sure the bowl vent is clear. I had an A do the same thing. IT would flood out badly and die, but as soon as you turned off the gas it ran fine. The vent gets packed with rust and soaking won't get it out. Need to drive out bowl vent baffles...

    630 exhaust gasket leak

    Check the head and manifold surfaces once apart. They are known to erode here when leaking for very long. Hopefully you caught it in time. If not, both head and manifold will need milled to clean up surfaces.

    That crossed my mind too but all the bearings are marked .010 and the crank wasn't tight in the old block. Good thinking and I will double check for sure.

    If I understand you right I think it is working ok. You only get so much travel from the carb butterfly. If you work the speed control with the tractor off you can see it doesn't take much movement to open butterfly all the way. When running, anything over say 1/4 throttle just puts more spring...

    What problem are you having? If the engine doesn't run away and keeps a steady rpm until overloaded, the governor is working. The speed control lever attaches to a flat spring. That spring balances with the fly weights (which is attached to governor arm) to get governor action. The only time...

    Stuck 60

    The 60C might have done it Tim. Took a Cat Challenger to get out. It's a swamp and once you break through the grass there is no bottom to it. Not sure on the mower Hugh, there's no tag. But it does a nice job mowing and will load the 60 up being over 7' wide.

    I don't think batteries wired in series sums the amps, just the volts. You will get the 24V sum of four 6 volt batteries but at the CCA of one of them. Parallel you would get the same volts as one battery but sum the amps. Not an electrical guru here but that's what I've always been told. Nate
