    Ford 600 hydraulics

I've read the thread a couple of times and I don't remember the mention of air pressure. It's worth a try. One of the mechanics where I work said something about the springs that hold the pistons against the body breaking and causing failure. Does that make sense?

I went out and undid the broken end of the cable for the tach and the pump IS turning. So the pump runs with the engine but doesn't pump. I think we are narrowing it down.

Can't tell the cable was broken off when I got the tractor and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. I've been having too much fun with the hydraulics.

By proof meter do you mean the cable coming off the end of the pump? No the cable is broken off.

Yeah it kind of sounds like that doesn't it. I doubt I'll get to it for a while. We have actual mechanics where I work who I can trick into rebuilding it. It's weird that it worked on and off for a while. Go figure. Thanks again.

    Ford 600 hydraulics

It's hard to tell because it's dark and cold up here in the frozen northland but I put my finger over the hole after I filled it and I think I could sort of feel little pulsing but not a lot. I ran the engine revs up and it didn't make any difference. What kind of job is it to pull that pump?

Tried that, no luck. Now it's full to the top and doing nothing.

So I pulled that plug with the tractor running and nothing, dry as a bone.

Yep, it's a pump like the one in the picture. It's got me baffled. Whats the correct way to prime it? And what should I use? ATF, hydraulic? Is there any way to check pressure at the pump? If it was bad wouldn't it have not worked at all? So many questions!

    Ford 600 hydraulics

That is one of the puzzling bits in this whole deal. The first couple of times I pulled that top pipe plug I got a pretty good spray of oil. thats when the arms started lifting pretty good. Now they don't lift at all and when I pull the plug with the engine running, nothing which makes no sense...

    Ford 600 hydraulics

Wow! I just read this entire thread for about the 10th time. I'm having a similar problem with my 600 series tractor and I'm more confused than ever. My hydraulic lift works sporadically. It stopped working for a while and I remove the #2 cap screw on the top cover and filled the passage with...

    TO20 value?

I'm looking at a TO 20 It's fairly decent , runs good, complete. The pto works okay but the tph arms don't lift. You can feel them sort of pulse. Should I walk away or is this fixable? Mike
