    My neighbor who worked for White always said if products such as the 9700 combine and 5100 planter had been on the market a few years earlier it would have helped White quite a bit. It was early 1980 when the grain embargo hit and blindsided a number of farm equipment companies.

    My neighbor was working for White in 1980. I think at that point his office was in Syracuse, NY. For a while he was working out of Columbus, OH. I think that White was in bankruptcy around then.

    Accepting used oil for recycling and carelessly taking back a container of used oil to put on the shelf are two entirely different things. The lesson here is to unscrew the cap on a supposed new oil container and make sure the seal is factory placed. You are buying the oil so why not remove...

    Yes. TSC accepts used oil. Easier to take used oil to Walmart or Advance Auto.

    Threads like this one should be the impetus for the very young to go out and look at every family tractor and piece of equipment with the purpose of writing down serial numbers and telltale wear. You never know when the day will come when life will go sideways where there is an important death...

    Before disassembling anything I would verify what the temperature gauge says with something such as an infrared heat detecting gun or similar device. If a new gauge it may not be reading correctly. Possible that the thermostat is in upside down. The fan belt may be loose enough for the pump...

    630 carb advice

    Need to get into the carb to clean the seat and needle. I've been pulling the carb but was wondering if I could do the work in place. The biggest worry is not having the carb sitting on a work bench so as not to lose parts.

    In theory yes it can be resleeved. Just need to find the appropriate material for the sleeve and a shop to weld it into the block.
