59 730 Diesel Head Bolts Torque

Just had head worked and replaced head gasket and torqued studs to 275# per shop manual. How important is retorquing? Lots of work to do that but don't want to short cut job. A couple of "mechanics" have told me it's not important.

    starting diesels while working throttle

That is correct on relieving hydraulic pressure by turning steering wheel to relieve pressure. Can do this instead of fixing problem which is supposed to be fairly simple O ring or something. Have seen fix on here a long time ago. My 4020 gasser starts MUCH easier, especially when cold.

    830 pony motor protection

Found this in my notes from someone's post along time ago. Should have noted whose as it is not mine. worked great for my 730D. I use a NAPA OP6610 oil pressure switch in the circuit to protect the coils. The switch has a normally open side and a normally closed side. The N/C side routes the...

    Zenith 69 Series Carburator

I sent my carb to "Dan's Auto and Carb" in California and had it rebuilt. Tractor runs great but still fouls plugs. At that time he had carbs if you need one. His number is 530-347-6982 or cell 530-227-9497. May have to try to call him a couple of time before reaching him. Oakley

520 - clutch will not engage after bearing change???

I hate to admit this but I had my 730 clutch apart awhile back and upon reassembling it (about six or eight attempts)could not get it to adjust. It went together but could not adjust the clutch disk adjuster. Finally realized that I was installing the disks on the clutch operating bolts instead...

    730 fenders/ correct police

On a 730 with three point hitch, the left front side is about the only way to mount them unless you want to climb up over the lift arm. Hand hold in left fender only is proper. My 4020 has hand holds in both fenders.

    4020 reverse

My 67 4020 has the third reverse. It is not marked and doesn't appear to have the notch cut out. It is real handy with the bale spear.

    Float-ride seat

Sorry about the double posting of the second picture. Also you can tell the left and right torsion springs apart if you lay them out with the tangs pointed down and with pins up, the one with the pin at the 7 o'clock position will be the right one (R2047) and the one with the pin at 8 o'clock...
