    Short in Ford Jubilee?

Look for a bad connection at the battery posts etc. Edit: (Leroy beat me to that one). Check the voltage at the battery posts (not the clamps) when you try to start it. If it drops to zero, the battery is likely dead or bad. If it stays at 12 volts your battery cable connections may be bad...

TO 20, 30, 8/9N Updraft carb, no power uphill especially.

An apology is in order. I thought you were somehow blocking Mad Farmer. Turns out somehow he got on my ignore list. I don't know how that happened. I didn't do it deliberately. I see your problem. Not nearly as much air at 5000 ft. A jet change in the carburetor might help. I would...

TO 20, 30, 8/9N Updraft carb, no power uphill especially.

EDIT: As Mad Farmer's quote shows as blocked I am adding part of the quote to my message: "Never had a problem going uphill with my N or Ferguson. The fuel systems are utter simplicity and as reliable as the sun rising." Agreed. I'm not totally a purist as shown by the 12 volt alternator system...

    Dowsing Rods

My grandfather could use just a very small diameter limber sapling (grabbed by the small end). When it started bobbing that meant water below. It would bob and you counted the number of bobs and when it stopped that was how deep it was in feet. Using an auger type manual post hole digger and...

    Dowsing Rods

They do seem to work but we found that you needed to come at it from opposite directions and then split the difference when they crossed. I can't explain it.

    Starting 8N problems

I know the feeling. I have often wished for someone else to help me pull something. I don't usually ask my wife to do that sort of thing. My son isn't too far away but I have to go by his schedule. Maybe what you did will help enough to get it going.

    Starting 8N problems

I'm curious, did you get sparking when you tried this? Was the 6 volt starter cable unhooked before doing this or did you just avoid hitting the start position on the start switch? That would have put the batteries in parallel. That could be exciting. Did you have a known good 12 volt...

    NAA Radiator Replacement

They can fail closed. I had a '74 Plymouth Duster slant six fail closed after driving halfway home from work. It overheated twice. I pulled the thermostat, and all was well.

    Alternator Confusion, Positive Ground

Yes, confirm generator or positive ground alternator or whatever. An external voltage regulator could be anywhere and out of sight. Did the owner have the battery out and assuming positive ground hooked it up backwards?

Need help. Possum ate my wiring

I had a WD with an add on fuel filter with rubber hoses on each end. I noticed something had been chewing on them so I wrapped the hoses with aluminum foil. Seemed to work.

    Some musings about copper pipe

That's a good thought as I had mice gnaw on a Romex wire eventually opening the neutral and I think it was to enlarge a hole that the wire fed through. Having said that, mice just like to gnaw on stuff and some things suit their tastes better than others.

    Looking for another idea.

I don't know if it's possible on your Ford but I have heard of the head gasket being installed upside down and flipped with a key coolant passage blocked. I wouldn't have thought it have worked ok at first, though. No thermostat might be the tip off.

    Some musings about copper pipe

I had ordered the PEX and fittings to redo the feed line under my mobile home when I stumbled on a thread about how mice like PEX. Fortunately, I was able to cancel the order. Not a good plan for exposed plumbing like that.

    Shop Wiring

I've been told that mice don't like the outer sheath on modern Romex. Having said that I had a mouse gnaw through the outer sheath and the neutral copper apparently trying to enlarge a hole in the 2" board it passed through (mobile home). If the hole had been larger where he could get through...

Suggest you save the #10 for 30 amp loads, use the #12 for the outlets and get #14 for the lighting. #10 may not hook to your outlets and switches very well and has been mentioned it's difficult to work with. #12 is difficult enough. Since you already have the wire, I guess I won't suggest...
