Need Advice on Starting Problems

Did you bleed the fuel system and confirm that fuel was getting to the injectors (as was suggested above)?

OK to use the stop valve to regulate 3pt raising?

I'm wondering how to regulate the lifting speed of the 3pt hitch on my YM186d. It currently almost SLAMS the implement upward, faster than i want. The control lever does not adjust degree of speed-- its all or nothing. I see in the operators manual that under the seat are separate valves; the...

    PTO won't go into neutral

Something similar happened recently to my YM186d (US version somewhat similar to yours) With the engine shut off, remove any attachment from the PTO shaft. Then grab the splined output shaft itself and try to push/pull it forward and backward or from side to side with your hands. If you can...

    broken PTO

Thanks Winston, There were no sudden impacts at all on the tiller/pto. The soil is pure sandy loam with zero rocks and only a few small diameter roots. I think the tiller PTO shaft had enough "short direction" room to slide from the position at installation. I didn't pay attention to whether...

    broken PTO

Well i pulled apart the PTO today; the only thing broken or damaged i can see so far is that a thin metal ring (a keeper ring of some sort?) was spread/broken/twisted and out of place (see photo # 2635). The whole PTO shaft had slid forward (toward front of tractor), apparently because the...

    broken PTO

Tried out my used RS1200 tiller for the first time today, on my YM 186D. Had been tilling my 50 foot garden (soft, sandy loam, no rocks, a few minor roots) for 3 passes, stopping the tiller at the end of each pass. At the end of the 3rd pass, i raised the tiller, stopped, and clutched to...

Identify this part on my 155D?

On the 186D (and perhaps other models) there is a toggle switch mounted (or a hole for one) in that position on the dash, which is used to activate an electric clutch for an optional equipment front PTO. But such a switch wouldn't be a momentary type.

    tiller mount

This picture might help. <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atta ... age-02.jpg">http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/yanmar/158407d1268503890-gear-chain-driven-tiller-linkage-02.jpg</LINK_TEXT> Thanks to MJ Petersen for the photo <LINK_TEXT...

    tiller mount

Hi Arnold, It looks like this is a 2pt -mounted tiller. What you need (at least) is an appropriate bracket to bolt on the tractor, for running this 2pt arrangement. Talk to "Tractor Ernie" (scroll down to the last post on the following page): <LINK_TEXT...

    Adjusting 186D shifting speed?

Thanks for setting me straight on the powershift personality. Will watch the rpms and range setting/work the clutch when necessary.

    Adjusting 186D shifting speed?

Just now getting acquainted with my "new" 186D. When using the powershift without the clutch, it seems very jumpy to me.. every time i shift up, it jerks forward almost like popping the clutch from a stop on a standard transmission. Is this considered normal for the powershift? Is it possible...

    186D, Biodiesel compatibility

    >Why biodiesel? Yanmar owners don't normally use enough fuel for it to make a difference. The benefits of potentially less smoke and less engine noise are my primary reasons for wanting to try Biodiesel. It made a huge difference in the smoke from diesel buses here on the Texas A&M...

    186D, Biodiesel compatibility

Just got a 186D, and i'm thinking to run biodiesel in it (B100) From what i understand, the main thing to watch out for when running it in an older diesel engine is to replace any rubber components in the fuel system (that are exposed to the fuel) with viton (the biodiesel degrades the rubber)...

Yanmar 186D 3 gear vs. Powershift

Hi, (Posting this here, as well as on the pre-purchase forum) Did the Yanmar YM 186D tractors *ALL* have the powershift transmission, or were some also made without it (e.g., just a standard gear & clutch transmission)? This site suggests that some were made with only a 3 gear shift...
