How Do I Identify Which Engine is in My 1959 MF85?

I have just purchased a 1959 M-F 85 (s/n 803762), and am not sure about which engine it has: E-223 or E-242? I know it is a 4 cylinder Continental gas, but do not know what markings to look for in determining which engine. Can you help? Does the tractor serial number offer any...

    41 B John Deere

Well to me 16 horse on a good day out of an 18 horse tractor doesn't sound like much of a good day. If it didn't need an overhaul I wouldn't spend any money on it.

    41 B John Deere

[b:8d0b6deae5]TOOT[/b:8d0b6deae5] you must not have read, I said I would trade my Johnson for a heisler. What part of cost is there in that?

    41 B John Deere

It does have a gas manifold on it currently but I am looking for a heisler manifold for it. I have a Johnson Cold manifold for an Unstyled B that I would trade for a Heisler for my Mid Series B. No it isn't back together yet. I have been in the hospital for most of the winter and my shop...

    41 B John Deere

There isn't much of a disadvantage for just working around the farm and plowing which is what it will be doing most of the time. It isn't going to be a tractor that is going to have $8-$10,000 stuck into it and only run it on a pulling track.

    41 B John Deere

It does have the DLTX 34 carb on it right now and it also has the gas intake. I'm thinking of putting roller rockers into it but not sure if I want to spend the extra money on a tractor that is going to spend most of its time on the farm with a couple of plow days and maybe a pull or two each year.

I was wondering about how much increase in horsepower I might expect after I get done going thru the motor on my 1941 B? It is 4.5" +.125 over and is going to have high compression M & W style pistons in it.

    5-1 POWER BLOCK

I am sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner. I never talked to you before about your power block. If you still have it can you tell me about it? And is it a 5-1 for sure. Thanks, Rob

Fan Belt for a Twin City KT

How would a fan belt for a Model "T" Ford work as the fan belt on a KT? Same length and width. Various styles to pick from including leather or rubberized fabric.

Fan Belt for a Twin City KT

Does anyone know where a person can get a fan belt for a TWIN CITY model KT? I have tried some of the old reliable people and they are out of them. I also was doing some research on fixing up my model A & model T and they have a belt that is really close to the length, was wondering if...
