    4020 24v charging question

Thanks all. Did I check the light bulb? That was the very first and most obvious thing to check. Buy a copy of the service bulletin? Almost exactly what my granddaughter suggested. "Pawpaw, can't you get a book to tell you?" "Sure darling, but there are lots of helpful folks on various forums...

    Delco 24 volt generator polarizing

With all due respect Tx Jim, we all know that is the ultimate solution. However, it is expensive and there are some of us out there that cannot afford the cost of a change over. What we really need is someone with the knowledge to help us out. I am struggling to help my brother with a similar...

    4020 24v charging question

Ok, it's now August 2024 and still no charging light. I tested the output of the generator at the starter at 1200 RPM and the voltage is 29 volts. There is a resistor on a pigtail from the lamp socket inline to a gray wire. I checked the resistor and it is zero Ohms. I am guessing this gray...

    4020 24v charging question

Thank you so very much! I am embarrassed to admit that I spent 30+ years as director of fleet maintenance for a trucking company and never learned how a charging light worked! Just never crossed my mind. Oh, well. Now I know! Ok, so he brought the tractor to me because of the light. I have not...

    4020 electrical

Late joining in but I get my one wire Delco Gold 10Si and 12Si alternators brand new through Amazon. Usually less that $90. I put one on my 12v 4020 and am in the process of converting a 24v to 12v on an older 4020. Try https://www.jimcotest.com/ if you need any mounting adapters for most...

    4020 24v charging question

Here's the problem. My brother brought his 1968 4020 to me with mouse eaten wires. I replaced the damaged portions. He said his charging light had quit working some time ago. I noticed the light blue wire that I repaired went to the charging light and thought that would fix the problem. Nope. I...

John Deere 790 PTO clutch problems :?:

I can hardly get my PTO in gear, it grinds the gears so bad. Clutch seems to work OK otherwise. Does the PTO have a separate clutch? Is there any adjustment I can make to engage the PTO properly? Much thanks!

    John Deere GT262 Ignition

I have an older (1996) GT262 that my brother gave me because it quit running. Over the winter, I fixed what all was wrong with it and it starts and runs like a Deere. I've mowed my 1/2 ac. lawn twice this year with it just to keep the battery charged up and the gas fresh. However, today it did a...

4020 Steering intermittently locks up on full right turn

Maybe I wasn't too clear or I don't understand your reply. I wasn't holding it in a hard right, I made a hard right and could not turn the wheel back to the left unless I stop the tractor and reduce throttle.
