    IH 184 Cub

My 184 cub has an new alternator which is charging because the battery stays charged, but it isn't indicating any charge rate on the amp meter. Original harness and hooked up as the old alternator was. Any clues on correcting this? PJ

Castle nuts on big ends- over torque or under torque to line up cotter pin?

Over torqing a bolt from factory setting can strech the bolt and weaken it. I know our tractors usually don't get into the high RPM range so either changing the nut or taking a little off the back of the nut will help to get it more within specks. I would rather have a little less torque than...

    Cub Lowboy 154

John, I used the same oil I use in my big tractors, regular hydraulic oil, comes in a 5 gallon can and does well in the cubs. Only thing is, if you have a leaking seal it will show up when it's parked. It's the only oil used on newer tractors for hydraulics and transmissions, makes it nice as...

    184 cub lowboy question

Well, I hate to sound stupid but, I found the reason I couldn't get the pullys back far enough to get the belts back on. I found a wrench I dropped behind the arm the pullys are attached to and wouldn't let it go back far enough, the light wasn't good last night, tired and I didn't see it in...

    Cub Lowboy 154

When I bought my 154 the hydraulics were very slow, so I changed the oil and filter. I don't think the filter had ever been changed in it's life! New oil. new filter and it now works as it should. PJ

    184 cub lowboy question

I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing, in doing so I had to remove the belts tension pully on the PTO drive. I'm having a problem on getting the belts back on, any clues on this? It's easy on my 154, but this 184 trying to get the spring loaded tensioner back far enough to...

    184 driveshaft removal instructions

It's an 184 with the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch on the engine. It had been set outside, uncovered for 7 years, and was/is pretty rusty, including the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. I can't use my 154 for a reference, which I'm sure you know, their drive train is different. I can...

    Cub cadet 184 hydraulics

My 184 has to have the engine running to raise or lower the mower deck, possibly your actuating valve is the problem. If it goes up it should come down. PJ
