    8n will not start

What led to the new battery (in the beginning)? I suppose it was dead, but do you know how and when it failed? If you can get it restarted, perform a voltage test across the battery terminals. For 12 volt DC system, you should have 13.8VDC. If not, it could be a voltage regulator or even a...

    engine block repair jb weld

Working with fiberglas gel-coat runs too. A trick I learned is to put some on and then cover it with a piece of clear plastic wrap. You can use a credit card to form it the way you like without getting all sticky. Just gently squeegy the glue around and smooth it the way you want. When it...

I turned a aluminum plug that slid into mine. I threaded a handle into it and just tapped them through.

    9N starter issues

Are you familiar with a 6 volt positive ground electrical system? That is what your tractor was originally wired for. Nowadays, everyone knows that the conductor wired to the engine block goes on the negative post of the battery, but not on these systems. Believe it or not, the positive...

    Pivot pin question please?

Thats a good idea. If you have access to a heating torch, get it hot to burn the rust and dirt out of there before you hit it.

Welding on tractor and transmission noise

Two jack stands and an 11/16" wrench and you can split the tractor in 20 minutes. Then you can just press the ring on properly if it is still useable. Who knows? It may be a good time to freshen up the through-out bearing, and friction disc. Not really a big job.

Tractor won't start in cold weather

The colder the metal, the more it contracts. I would get a compression tester at the ready for the next episode. You can have spark and fuel, but if your compression is below 90psi - won't start problems are on the menu for the day.

    Low Oil Pressure

This problem has now been solved! The machine shop removed a plug from the oil galley tube that distributes oil to the main bearings, rods, and cam journal. I was able to slide the cam out 1/4" to get the plug back in. All is well, thanks to everyone who posted a response! :D

    Simple ?s

If you could see the edge of the glass bowl with a microscope, you'd probably see a rugged mountain range. Try this, get a piece of glass that is flat and lay a piece of 320 to 400 grit sand paper on it. Place the glass bowl on it cup side down of course and move it in the path of a figure...
