    Proofmeter replacement with Electronic Tachometer

Perhaps I am over thing this as usual. I think I will look into modifying my existing alternator to provide a compatible signal. I am hoping to find a meter that will fit the existing panel opening, about 3 3/8 or 85mm. There are several online that size and they are fairly inexpensive. Thanks...

Newbie needs advice on PTO Overrun Clutch problems

Perhaps your pin was bent due to too long of a drive shaft. If the implement does not have enough travel it could have pushed the shaft too far forward on the PTO shaft. I use an ORC on my 851 and it shows significant wobble with only 4-5 hours use. Perhaps I abused it a little clearing a...

    Proofmeter replacement with Electronic Tachometer

I am looking to replace my proofmeter with an electronic Tachometer/Hour meter. Looking through the archives there are several suggestions for meters but no discussion on how or where to place the sensor. In my case I have an 851 diesel so can not use an inductive (spark plug wire) sensor. I...

    Loader not lowering

Here is an interesting video on how a one-way throttle valve works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjnCCHV2RKM I am thinking I may make one someday: The GRESEN valves list $42 - $95: https://www.baumhydraulics.com/Search/Results?id=lt-50-12 Untitled URL Link

Oops, no flow in the opposite direction! That valve will not work.

    Loader not lowering

What about something like this? It's a bit more but being adjustable may save having to purchase several to get it right. Northern tool Item# 69832 https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200746891_200746891

    Loader not lowering

Yes, the lift is single action. I was thinking a blockage in the cylinder line could cause this but I have very little experience with hydraulic systems. I will check the hoses and valve if needed next time I am at the property. Looks to be a messy day. Thanks all for your suggestions.

    Loader not lowering

My loader has suddenly stopped going down freely. Originally lowering the bucket was tricky because the valve opened very quickly allowing the bucket to drop too fast. It took a sensitive touch operating the lever. Now the loader drops very slowly, about 2 inches/second max. It doesn't mater if...

Engine oil in diesel fuel revisited

See original post for some background if you like: http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1323859&highlight= Back in Dec. 2015 I posted on this topic and never got around to sharing what I found. Been through a rough patch just and can't believe it's been that long. Anyway...

Thermostat & Gasket for 172 Diesel

Gates.com has a cross reference on their website. Searching for EBE8575B resulted in Gates part numbers: #33008 & #33008S. Booth available at Amazon with prime shipping rates. So now I have 3 thermostat options and no gasket option that doesn't come with $7 shipping for an $0.85 part...

Thermostat & Gasket for 172 Diesel

I am having trouble locating a 180 degree thermostat and gasket for my 1958 172 diesel. The original part numbers are: EBE-8575-B & EAF-8255-A respectively. I found what I think is a cress reference for the thermostat, STANT #13358 available at Amazon for $5.96 (link below if I did that...

    Injector Pump Seal Kit Recommendation

Thanks, but my dilemma is the ebay kits pictured show slightly different parts. Some with wire clips of some sort some without, etc. I am looking for a reputable vendor that sells the correct seals for this pump. Ebay seems like a bit of a crap shoot.

    Injector Pump Seal Kit Recommendation

I am looking for a good seal kit for my Roosa Master DBGVCC429 injector pump. The kit I need I believe is Stanadyne #24371. However searching the internet I am finding large differences between suppliers, what is pictured and what I find in the manual exploded view of the pump. Does anyone have...

    Engine oil in diesel fuel?

So I had a few more minutes to investigate this further. I began by removing the tube from the bleed back fuel line and starting the engine. The good news is that the engine starts very well with clean fuel. The bad is that nothing came out of the fuel return fitting on the engine head. I ran...

    Engine oil in diesel fuel?

Thank you all for the insights. Unfortunately I am out of time for this project and can not get back to if several weeks. The good news is I'll have access to my manuals soon and can research your suggestion. However I do not think that is the only culprit. The fuel in the tank is clear while...
