    smoking 8n

    Try working her......mine smoked REAL bad after sitting for a few years (still ran like a swiss watch though).....after keeping an eye on oil level and filling her up as needed she quit smoking (or at least it drimaticly reduced)....turns out the rings just needed time to re-seat....

    Ram seals for Dearborn loader

    I have a 9n with a Dearborn loader on it.....the ram seals are just starting to leak a little and would like to change them out this spring.....can anyone tell me where I can start looking for a new set?

    Starter stuck or bound up on flywheel.

    mine hangs up on me ocationaly the only thing I can do is remove the starter and reassemble it.....mine will only hang up when I have an almost start and I hit the start button again before the engine and starter stops turning if I let it settle before trying to start it again I'm usually ok

    If its free to turn over I'm not sure what the advantage would be in spraying penatrating oil in the cilenders would be.....VLs are a total loss oil system so make sure you do an "oil change" before you try to start it.....fill your oil tank (upper left fule tank) wit 50 or 60 straight weight...

    Engine heaters for cold weather

    I use a MAP gas burns-o-matic torch on the intake manafold (gas off!)for about 60 sec or so ("till the manifold drys out) turn the gas on, a little choke with the throtle 3/4 ant hit the start button "till she starts then full throtle, then let the old girl warm up for a bit while I go inside...

    I was havig trouble starting my 9n in real cold weather 25f or below it will start and run just fine above.....so I bought a magnetic oil pan heater and stuck it to the intake manafold hoping I coul just warm up the air a little bit to get it to run....no chance.....so I slept on it for a...

    Dearborn Loader Avalible in upstate NY

    A friend of mine told me that there was a Dearborn loader sitting at ALPCO Recycling in Macedon NY....I know at least the frame and bucket are there....not sure if the rams and pump are there but could most likely be had for cheap!
