    First; I want to Thank everyone for their help. Still in the not starting phase but am making headway. What does the 4 position switch do? Is there some place I can get a decal to place around switch? I can see there was a decal as small pieces are still there. Thank you in advance.

    48 Cub still not starting

    I am still unable to get 48 Cub to start. This is what I have done: New points, gapped at .013; new condenser; New coil; New spark plug wires. Plugs gapped at .025. Made sure on top dead center before reinstalling J4 magneto. When cranking, motor will back fire at least once out of muffler...

    itting. Just bought it. Somewhere around 3 years since last ran. Firing order correct. Had mag off and installed new points and condenser.

    1948 Cub won't start. New plugs, new wires, new points and condensor in J4 magneto; cleaned carb. Will backfire once or twice while trying to start but that is all. Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
