    Parade/show tractor tire dressing

    I used some Kiwi Black shoe polish (wax) on a set of front tires that were dry (gray looking) and had some small cracking. It made the tires look very good. It took a second coat of wax the next year, and so far the tires still look good several years later.

    what is your battery maintainer of choice for 6volt/12 volt combo?

    I have a Schumacher battery maintainer on my batteries, they keep the batteries fully charged - and make them last longer. Their current model number is SC1355. They're not cheap, but they work well.

    1950 Farmall C replacing transmission

    When I worked on my Farmall BN, I used "guide bolts" in the top two holes - to get the torque tube lined up with the transmission. The same kind of thing would probably work on a C as well, since they're similar.

    The Woods part number for the belt shield is 25560, Burch Store Tractors has a used shield and also a new old stock shield. They might also have the brackets, too...

    The manual shows it as Woods part 10720, an 18.4" pulley.

    Ignition switch for A/B

    A regular ignition switch with battery (distributor) ignition is part number 62801DC, Steiner has them, their part number is IHS382.

    From the second picture, it looks like it is leaking at the upper seal on the final drive, where the transmission differential shaft goes into the final drive.

    You might check the wire from the magneto to the kill switch, to make sure it's not shorting out somewhere. That would keep it from working...

    Use a little heat on the hub of the pulley, that will help loosen it on the tapered bushing.

    You might check the ignition timing, to see if the advance is not working right at higher RPM's.

    There is a guy on Facebook that sells front hitch plates for Farmall B and BN (and probably C) tractors, they make chaining the tractor down much easier (and I think safer).

    I was going to mention the service manual from Binder Books, but you mentioned you have it. That is usually one of the best place to get IH books.

    Where do I buy 20W Straight viscosity oil!?

    I think the multi-grade oils tend to be detergent oils. When you're using oil for hydraulics, you do not want detergent oil, it tends to be a little more foamy and might get air bubbles in the oil.
