Is this bad for a PTO clutch?

When I mow and get to the end of a row, I pull up the PTO clutch lever to disengage the haybine as I make the loop for the corner. Does this put increased wear on the clutch, esp. the throw-out bearing (if it has one)???! The tractor is a Hesston model 70-66. The purpose of doing this is to...

Balers to avoid like the plague

Round Balers Case IH 3450 and New Idea 484 use bearings on their rollers that are no longer available. If a bearing goes, you must buy a new roller, plus two new bearings for it. ka-ching..... ka-ching.

    Round baler belts question

How can you tell if round baler belts are 2 or 3 ply? I have one new bottom belt that came with a used machine, and want to buy 4 more that match.

    new idea 484 baler

I am getting 4 out of 5 bottom endless belts, as one new belt came with our machine last year. One site on the net had a $ of 110 per. I am going to check around however. Anyone have a good source for belts? I'll pay a little more to avoid getting a P.O.S.!!!

    new idea 484 baler

How can you tell if a 484 New Idea round baler is an "earlier" or a "newer" model? It appears it makes a difference when ordering belts.

No Idea 484, CaseIH 3450 Rd. Baler question

What size wire should be used to run power to the motor that moves the string arms on these balers. The old wire looks to be 10 gauge. To me that seems to be a bit much! I don't know what the amps are, but I did see a reference in the manual to a 5 amp fuse (which my New Idea doesn't have)...

NI 484, CaseIH 3450 Round balers elect. switch

The New Idea mod 484 and the Case IH mod 3450 round balers have an electric switch that signals when the bale is at maximum size. Has anyone had to replace this switch, and if so, where did you get one?

    Fermenting oats question

Used municipal water, chlorinated, but not heavily. No detectable chlorine taste but will try some well water. As for feed store oats, i'd worry about its purity. I plan to plant some next spring (if all else fails) and grow to maturity.

    Fermenting oats question

Not quite an implements question but..... We make a soup (barszcz) out of fermented oats, but we can't get the oats to ferment anymore. When my mother made this in the 60's, 70's, the mix of oats, water, and a slice of rye would get really sour and stink to the high heavens. Now, I do...

How far away from your farm can you drive unregistered equipment without fear of being pinched? I sure would like someone from Massachusetts to answer this.
