    Cockshutt 40 Dash Color

Ive got a 1950 C 40 Im working on, and Im wondering if the dash panel with the switches and ammeter was originally painted matching red, or was it silver in color? Mine is very original and as such there isnt much paint left on it , it appears silver ish in color and doesnt show much sign of red...

    Cockshutt 40 Ignition Timing

Thanks Mike. I havent got a copy of the manual for the 40 only one for a Buda 6B-230. I think I was mistaken in thinking I should have the points opening at 30 ish degrees BTDC for static timing. If I understand you correctly the points should open at TDC static, the mechanical advance weights...

    Cockshutt 40 Ignition Timing

Mike, do you happen to know of the spec in degrees BTC where the points should open, my manual only refers to the firing mark on the flywheel which I have yet to find.

    Cockshutt 40 Ignition Timing

Ive got a 1950 Cockshutt 40 with a 230 gas engine. Im having trouble finding the timing marks on the front face of the flywheel. The TDC mark for # 1 is clear, but in the approx area Id expect to see the timing mark there is only a drilled hole. Has anyone got a photo of the marks on the face of...

    Cockshutt 40 Distributor

So after limited response on the Autolite distributor I took it apart to see what it needed. I found the bushings to be plain Oillite 1/2 ID 5/8 OD 1 long. My local bearing supply shop had them in stock $1.65 each. I had to side drill the upper bushing for the oil wick port and hone about 0.002...

    Case o Matic

Thanks for the replies everyone, it sounds like I was asking a bit much with running in 4th. Im running 18.4 30s which were on it when I rescued it from the scrap yard, so Ill gear down a bit more next time. I wish I could get the video from the day before to load, I ran 20 feet longer and spun...

    Case o Matic

I dont think the RPM dropped very much, hard to say as the tach isnt working yet. I think if I had pulled in direct it would have pulled the revs down a lot more.

    Case o Matic

Hello all Ive been working on an 800 Diesel case o matic tractor and I took it out for its first run at a local tractor pull last weekend. The first pass I was pretty pleased with, I ran in COM and it pulled well, I kept the throttle to the pin and I finished up by spinning out at the end of the...

    Cockshutt 40 Distributor

Ive recently brought home a Cockshutt 40 with a 230 Buda. The distributor is pretty worn, with quite a lot of side to side slop in the shaft which is making setting the points a challenge. Its an Autolite IAD 6001 1B. Im having trouble locating a new bushing or mechanical advance springs. Any...
