A better, more sensible way to tax road use.

Many states already charge a higher registration rate each year for electric vehicles in order to make up the difference in gas taxes not collected.

    Ford 501 Sickle Bar Mower

OK. I posted earlier about a NH 469 haybine I was having some problems with, and was trying to decide if it was worth it to fix it. I only cut about 7 - 8 acres of grass hay at a time. I have a Ford 501 sickle mower that I picked up as a backup a couple of years ago. The first time I used it...

    NH 469 Haybine problem

I did replace most of the older sections over the last couple of years, and tried to adjust the guards so that they didn't have gaps between the section and the guard. The guy who came and took the bar out to replace the bushing thought that it moved pretty easily by hand.

    NH 469 Haybine problem

Been a while since I posted here. I've got an old NH469 haybine that I use to mow down less than 10 acres twice a year. It's not pretty, but when it works, it gets the job done nicely. I've got an ongoing problem however... the bushing and bolt that connect the cutter bar to the wobble box...

    NH 469 Haybine question

I had actually replaced almost all the sections before this problem began.

    NH 469 Haybine question

I've got an old NH 469 haybine that I use to cut less than 10 acres of hay twice a year. Last year during my second cutting, the bolt that connects the cutter bar to the wobble box sheared. I replaced it and finished up. Last week I was doing my first cutting and was about 2/3 done when this...

    Problems after carburetor rebuild

Hoping some of you can give me some good advice and save me some time figuring out where to start looking to solve a carb problem. I had a problem last fall with my Ford 960 w/ Marvel Schebler carb. Turns out the screws holding the throttle butterfly had come loose (disappeared) and the tractor...

Save me from some busted knuckles...

Update. I changed out a bunch of sections today. Tightened until the bolts broke and then punched out the pieces. Much easier than trying to loosen them. Still had to get the grinder out for 4 or 5 bolts, but I can live with that. Now I'm ready to cut some hay... in a month and a half or so (if...

Save me from some busted knuckles...

I sure won't argue with you about that. I've lived up on a high ridgetop with a tremendous view to the North and South. Can see for miles in both directions.

Save me from some busted knuckles...

Yes, I think that's what I'll have to do with some of the ones that are turning but not coming off.

Save me from some busted knuckles...

Yeah, I have new bolts and nuts and am putting in new as I go. Not sure how old some of the other ones are. Just got to get these old ones out without using too many curse words LOL.

Save me from some busted knuckles...

Yeah, after I accidentally broke a few, I started to wonder if that was the way to go. However, after spraying and breaking some of them loose, I can't re-tighten them, as the whole thing turns. I think for the rest that I haven't worked on yet, I'll skip the spray and just try to over-torque...

Save me from some busted knuckles...

Save me some busted knuckles please... I picked up an old haybine that sat all last year with a broken part. Had that fixed last fall and had to remove the cutter bar to do so. Thought it would be a good chance to replace a bunch of the sections before putting it back in place. Sections are in...
