Front timing cover seal and other questions

Steve, the cover will come off without disturbing the governor. It is held in place by a large nut on the end of the camshaft. That aside, do everything John tells you and you won"t go wrong. Ron

    TO-20 Running Problem Governor?

It could be, or numerous other things. I wonder have you had problems with the distributor trying to move around or jump up and down, even though it is tightened up? The moving dist is often an indicator that the nut on the end of the cam is loose (thereby loosening the governor). Dist movement...

    TO 35 pan

It looks heavy. Can I handle it by hand or do I need to lower it down with a jack?

    TO 35 pan

Hey guys, I am starting to do an "in frame" overhaul on my TO 35. I am wondering if the oil pan will drop straight down after all the bolts are out. It is iron and appears to be an integral part of the chassis. Does the tractor need to be jacked up slightly at either end to relieve any bind, or...

    ID this tractor ??

While certainly no tractor expert, I thought I had seen most makes and most Fergies. But never saw one like that. I guess being a French made import would explain that. Thanks again.

    ID this tractor ??

Could you guys ID this tractor for me. I am not a buyer or seller, just not sure I have seen one like it. The lower portion looks like Massey Harris to me. Is it the Massey-Harris-Ferguson? http://lexington.craigslist.org/grd/1546623170.html

NEW GUY WANTS TO SAY HEY!

Welcome, I am a fairly seldom poster here, but have enjoyed the site for years. A wealth of info from a great bunch of folks. Since you are new to our beloved old tractors I would like to mention one safety thing. You mentioned skidding logs, please remember these old tractors flip over backward...

    Oil pan removal

Hey guys, in order to remove the oil pan on my TO-35, does the front end have to come apart or off? I seem to remember that it appears that it will not, but the tractor is not where I can look right now. Thanks, RonW

    Z29 distributor

Your problem will be what Jerry mentioned, in that the cam is moving. No clamp is going to hold down the dist until you make some repairs. I learned this the hard way. You will need to pull the front cover off the motor and tighten the nut on the end of the camshaft. I will almost guarantee that...
