    David Brown 780 Keeps Dying

I have a DB 780 which stutters and dies. She may run for an hour or 5 minutes before this happens. It appears it is a result of lack of fuel. I have replaced the fuel pump, had the injector pump rebuilt, pulled and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced the fuel filters and it still happens. I am out...

Ford 4100 leaking oil at bellhousing and making gear noise

Oil runs from drain on bellhousing and the oil level on rearend becomes low after a few hours use. Hydraulics become slow and there is a clunking noise from what sounds like the rearend. I'm guessing a bearing has failed and taken a seal with it. Any ideas????

Late Tractors with Belt Pulleys and Hand Cranks

Sometimes my curiosity gets to me. . . and I have to ask questions in this tractor forum. While looking at my old 1951 M the other day; (cant wait till spring so I can run her a bit) I was noticing the belt pulley and hand crank (and both still work just fine !). MY QUESTIONS: What is the...

    F-20, F-30 Road Gear

Did the later F-20's and F-30's on rubber tires come equipped with a fifth gear similar to that on an H and M (with a max speed of 16 to 17 mph)? If not, what was the top speed of their high gear? Also did the F-12 and F-14 have high gear similar to the A or B ? Thanks, Ross.

    Weight Difference Between 4010 4020

Hey John Deere Experts ! ,. . .I noted something interesting while leisurely reading my C.H. Wendell book of Nebraska Tractor Tests. The 4010 was tested at 84 pto horse but only weighed 7000 lbs (without ballast). The 4020 3 years later was tested at 95 pto horse but weighed a beefy 8700 lbs...

What Is A Good Landscaper Tractor ?

I would like opinions out there as to what is the best 1980's to 90's tractor to be used as a landscaper tractor. (Has to be that old so I can afford it.) I will use it on my own small acreage and do a little landscape work on the side; maybe 3 or 4 times per year. I want it to be a utility...

580 Case Backhoe Drawbar / Hitch

Thanks 135 Fan for the Reply. One thing I am wondering about the transmission in a 580; doesn't the 580 Landscaper / Loader which is basically a 580 with loader on front but with a three point hitch on the rear instead of a backhoe have the same transmission as a 580 Backhoe / Loader? These...

580 Case Backhoe Drawbar / Hitch

Has anyone fabricated or know of a simple drawbar hitch that can be welded or bolted onto the back of a Case 580 loader / backhoe ? To me a logical place (perhaps the only place) that it could be mounted would be on the bottom of the backhoe boom just behind where the boom pivots on the large...

    1494 Case (David Brown)

Hello again Kow Farmer As far as specs, I know from a Tractor Data book the 1494 is rated at 75 pto horsepower. I think it was never tested at Nebraska, but the 1490 which was the same tractor, just the previous older model was actually tested at something like 72.8 pto horses. The engine is...

Sound Guard Cab On 630, 730

Has anyone ever heard of; or seen a modern sound-guard cab modified and fitted on a 630 or 730 row-crop John Deere ? Obviously, provision would have to be made for the belt pulley wheel and the fly-wheel housing and the fact that the operator platform is so far forward. I have seen a photo of...
