    Thanks for the reply! I should have been more specific; the differential seems to lose oil and the engine crankcase gains it. I have drained it down and it smells like gear oil. In the past I have drained as much as a gallon out.This is over a good period of time though.

    Thanks for the replies, I'll check the for oil over the valve stems first,I won't rule out an overhaul but it's just odd that it doesn't do it all the time and never smokes at all under load; hot or cold.

    I have a 51' A and at first start up it will smoke blue a little, but at full load like bush hogging it runs as clean as it ever could. After warmed up to operating temp.and idling for a while it will start to smoke and when idled up it will blow a good cloud of blue out and then clear up. Any...
