    I don't know about rebuilds. I have had good luck with Pape equipment the JD-Hitachi dealer for N. Calif,Nev Ore, Wa.. The last one I had done was for a EX300 Hitachi which required machine work and cost $1380.00. hope this is helpfull.

    I haven't worked on any as small as the 490, but on the 892 you pull the ruber boot off from the top. These units usually have wear on the inside that requires an industrial chrome building up plus resealing. Take it to the dealer or good hydraulic shop that can pressure test the unit before...
