I didn't know there was an age factor...

My 14 year old owns more tools than most city dwelling 20somethings, and probably 30somethings too. Most of them have no desire to fix anything, pay someone else to do it or just go buy new! My son has been asking for tools the past 3 Christmases and bdays. He owns enough to do most basic...

    motor homes

Not a motor home, but another idea is a "toy hauler" style travel trailer or fifth wheel. Good used ones can be found at somewhat reasonable prices. My in laws has a 12' garage area with a 2600 lb. payload. Their prior unit was a 28' bumper pull and was an open floorplan that easily...

can't see my tractor! high bay fluorescent shop lighting?

Lithonia is as good as any lighting brand. Having installed thousands of T5 high bay fixtures (spent 2 years doing warehouse retrofits) I can say they put out much more light than you would think. Also check with your power company. When we were doing all the refrofits it was because the...

    Hobart Stickmate welder opinions?

I agree. Good little unit for the money. My biggest complaint is that the leads are short, so mine is on a wheeled cart with a long power cord so k can move it closer to the work.

1/2 drive 1/2 inch female pipe plug socket

If you have a set of Allen wrench sockets, just slip the appropriate size 1/2" drive backwards over the hex of the Allen.

    fox s are back

I usually put out 115 grains of lead at about 2900 feet per second. They don't come back!

    Your Handle

Mine was an old email address. Originally came from my last name and the fact that I am 6 foot 9, but Samuels69 had some inappropriate connotations that could be miscontrued by simply reading the name...so 68 it is!

Car transport from Albany,NY area to Reedsburg,WI

On the left side of the page, look for the "hauling schedule". There are generally lots of shippers there, or you can post what you did here. Good luck!

Never heard of this problem before

I had the same problem on my bucket truck on the spin-on hyd. fluid filter. Tiny pinhole that only leaked when you operated the hydraulics. Unfortunately, it is mounted bhind the cab, higher than the roof, up on the hyd reservoir. I found it the same way, with lots of wiping and scrubbing...

    horse hay

Mike in Mn, If it took her two months to make it right, cash in hand would be very appropriate. I had a bank issue once in which a half dozen checks got returned unpaid. The checks had been written over the weekend but the bank had "missed" my deposit. I made good to everyone in cash by the...

    New shop ideas

I love the idea of an anchor for winching in dead equipment! I will never regret plumbing compressed air to every imaginable place, with a 100' reel next to the OH door to reach outside, and a separate one in the main work areas

    Speakin of wiring receptacles

I will ALWAYS pigtail a receptacle! The only exception would be a GFCI protecting downstream receptacles. I also don't care for backstab receptacles. I do primarily commercial and industrial use, so rarely get the option of a plastic box. My ideal choice is to use a deep 1900 box (4"x4"...

    Electrical wiring to tractor shop

Awesome. Now we are all on the same page, what should we tackle next, religion...politics...climate change...oil additives? John T has spent many a time trying to educate many on here about electrical issues, and often references the value of free advice. He is right. The best advice for any...

    Electrical wiring to tractor shop

OK. I agree that if the building was in fact fed by 2 or more SERVICES the signs would be a requirement. I am using the definition of "service" from article 100 "The conductors and equipment for delivering electric energy from the serving utility to the wiring system of the premesis served"...

    ID this tool

Tht tool is a ruler, used for measuring and also for making straight lines. The metal wrench looking thing above the ruler is pretty neat too, but not sure of its use.
