    i dont have a jd book to look at but if i remember right there is a guide on the engine pulley but i might be wrong on that, something to check for

    if you can get a belt on thats 1/2 inch shorter you have more problems like the pulley sheaves are worn to much, but if you force it on it will take out bearings on the deck and your engine but prove me wrong i have worked on mowers for 15 years and have seen it
