    Restoring steering wheel

There is an epoxy product that comes as a flexible roll or block with hardener (WalMart or auto supply stores). I have used it to repair extensive cracks in steering wheels, just put it on the wheel and shape (squeeze) to the profile you want. It can be filed and sanded after hardening and has...

    M cut-out relay to regulator.

Just a note re John T's comment on solid-state cutouts: most Model A Ford parts catalogs have them in stock.

LUC engine not getting gas to cylinders

I would say your problem is in the carb. The M-S carb on the L-series is very hard to clean properly, especially the tiny passage at the bottom of the main passage. Get a drawing of this carb and clean it properly. Soaking it in cleaner usually won't do the job; it has to be mechanically cleaned...

    Setting Tire Beads

I have had the same problem with Firestone tires on the M- and L-series front wheels. Have tried most lubricants, including a silicone spray, over-inflated to ridiculous pressures, beat on them, etc. but still have several that will not seat properly. Wish I had some advice for you, but if you...

    john deere LA magneto timing

The L-series are a real pain in the neck to time corretly, because it is hard to get the gears to mesh in the right place. I just have to keep trying and checking (takes a lot of time, or maybe it's just me), but when you get the impulse at the stated place, you will be happy at the way it...

Oops! Where I said shaft, substitute item 1 nut. Sorry 'bout that!

    MT Oil Filter Housing leak

Item 4 on the parts dwg is an internally-toothed washer that keeps the shaft in the can. The shaft can be pushed thru this washer, allowing replacement of the copper gasket. Re-assemble by using a properly-sized pipe to push the washer back on the shaft.

John Deere M Fan Belt Replacement

When this happens to me, I usually take a proper-size punch and try to get it in the hole, then turn the nut off. It can be a real pain.

    John Deere 575X Garden Tractor

I have a 485X and the fuel pump stopped working. After some hassle I got the pump out, but it checked ok. Finally I discovered a fuse in the circuit that was not indicated in the manual. It was low on the R/H side of the engine compartment, close to the back of the instrument panel, right at the...
