    Engine/turbo differences 1130/1135?

o it looks to me like I would have to change manifolds to use the newer turbo. From what I have found, the intakes look to be the same. I guess the exhaust hole in the hood may be different

    Engine/turbo differences 1130/1135?

I have an 1130, and the turbo needs replaced. I have found that the the late 1135 turbos are about half the price. The early 1135's are the same as the 1130. Anybody know what would need to be changed to use the late model turbo? My manifold and exhaust elbow both need replaced anyway, so...

    Height of a 403

legal height here is 14' even, but I know from experience making hay deliveries with my 13'6" van not all the wires are that high! Probably end up pulling the drive tires, and maybe tearing off the scabby road grader cab, it bothers me anyway. I'm going 340 miles so I think it will be worth the...

    Height of a 403

this one has a 13' head, so probably a bit lighter. Weight won't be an issue with my drop deck, but if I borrow my friends gooseneck for the lower deck height, I may have to haul the head and feeder house separate to lighten it up. Doubt I will though, his gooseneck is probably not a full 10"...

    Height of a 403

is that 140" to the top of cab, or the bin? That'll put me at 14' 10", have to see if I can find a lower trailer, or have to pull tires and set it on blocks. Thanks :-)

    Height of a 403

Fly home from the oil patch next week, and need to get the 403 I bought home. Need to know how tall it is, don't know if my trailer will work or if I'll need to borrow a lower one. It has a cab, but it is a scabbed on cat grader cab, so it can come off.

Looking at a new farm truck

sounds like a throw out bearing. I would plan on a new clutch too, it it didn't tear up the pressure plate and it all looks good, bonus, but not too likely in my experience. Good thing is this cabovers, especially with a bed hoist, are real easy to work on, it wouldn't be too bad of a job.

    Tractor Sales These Days

onestly I think e-bay's time as an example of the market has passed, as well. Most real sellers go elsewhere. The other thing to consider is that us younger guys are interested in what we ran as kids, and it is not Johnny poppers and IH letter series. First tractor I hayed with was a Massey 180...

    engine conversion in Steiger

don't know how available the info is, but the cougar III's with gear trans came with 3306's, and the PTA model cougars with Allison autos had 3406's, so you should be able to get the parts you need from a Steiger parts list. All the cats I have worked on have drive adapters that bolt onto the...

    BTO question

And why not? I ran into this attitude with the family I bought my place from, and it baffles me. They all thought that they should get equal rights and income from the homestead that one brother had farmed with his sweat and tears for 30 years. A farm can only be farmed by one person at a time...

Older good fuel mileage small truck?

JD, I don't see how you not getting the mileage I do proves any point. I can just as easily call you a liar for saying you get less mileage than I do. You may drive differently than I do, our numbers are within a couple mpg of each other, which can easily be explained away by driving habits. So...

Older good fuel mileage small truck?

biggest thing I think you forget on the affordability of driving a diesel pickup, is that most people have the option of buying used. You may not due to rust, but other areas of the world are not in the same boat. I would never advocate buying a newer common-rail cummins for an affordable...

Older good fuel mileage small truck?

ho are you arguing with? Because you have not answered my question. And we are talking about fuel economy, not price. Even if I paid $100,000 for my Cummins, it has no impact on stated fuel economy. I know you don't like diesels, that is of no import to me.
