Engine/turbo differences 1130/1135?

I have an 1130, and the turbo needs replaced. I have found that the the late 1135 turbos are about half the price. The early 1135's are the same as the 1130. Anybody know what would need to be changed to use the late model turbo? My manifold and exhaust elbow both need replaced anyway, so looking at options.

The difference is in the make of turbo. The higher priced one is the Schwitzer and the cheaper one is the AiResearch .Use the cheaper one cost less to rebuild.

o the airesearch will interchange with the schwitzer without other changes?

There are 2 different turbos listed for the 1130.

o it looks to me like I would have to change manifolds to use the newer turbo. From what I have found, the intakes look to be the same. I guess the exhaust hole in the hood may be different

There were early and late injection pumps too for both the 1130 and 1135. All had the 10 MM hydraulic head, the 1130 had the light quill shaft drive while the late engines used the heavy uprate drive like the 1135 used. The late 1130 and early 1135 both used the 3260F288 fixed phase pump, while the late 1135 used a pump that had an advance built in.

If you could find the dimensions for the gasket your turbo to manifold uses, and what the dimensions are for the AirResearch turbo to manifold gasket. Just because they have different gasket part numbers doesn't 100% mean that the mounting is completely different, it could be just a different thickness, or different material gasket.

Were you able to figure anything out? I'm in the same situation and would like to go to the cheaper version of turbo if I can.
