    8n brake seals

My brakes leak bad enough I have to stand on both brakes to slowly get it to roll to a stop. No chance of stopping on a hill, and like I said, replaced 6-9 months ago. Had them to where I could lock them up and 180 the tractor on a dime.

    8n brake seals

I have an early model 8n that I have completely rebuilt. Been using it for raking hay and running a 5' bush hog. I replaced the back seals just over 6 months ago and I went in the barn the other day and had oil leaking out both brakes. It's been sitting for a good month or so on flat even spot...

    8n hydrolic arms

Alright, it was the pressure valve. Works like it should now.

    8n hydrolic arms

My local Napa pulled through and has a relief valve I will be picking up this afternoon, with luck I'll have that replace tonight. Does anyone know the wrench size I'll need? I'm alright with buying one to cut down just for this job, and is it possible to replace from the side panel?

    8n hydrolic arms

Ok so here's the update...just hooked back up to the plow, pulled the cover, and I did not notice any oil leak. Granted it's hard to see everything with the tire still on, but I didn't see anything obvious. Was turbulence in the oil, but I didn't notice much change in it with and without pto...

    8n hydrolic arms

I'm planning on doing a little work/checking on it this evening. Thanks for the advice, I'll post back later today with what I find.

What do you mean by the NAA type? Are you talking about the single O ring piston?

    8n hydrolic arms

I finally was able to get my tractor running very well, and it can pull a load without trouble. Was in the garden the other day to plow and the lift arms will not lift my plow and cannot keep weight for more then a few seconds after the clutch is pressed I want to look into the lift this week...

    Performance Troubleshooting

Alright, did some more work and here's where I'm at. Carb has been rebuilt, cleaned twice, and it would run fairly well with about 1/2 choke. Actually had the harrow out and drug the arena today. Everything sounded right, no misfires, or pops, timing sounded "on". I had tried everything on the...

    8n drawbar

I'm looking into getting a drawbar for my 8n, some say "if pumpkin has been tapped" can anyone explain what that means?

    Performance Troubleshooting

Here's the update: Pulled the manifold off and used a high temp gasket seal, there were some leaks that appeared to be just exhaust escaping. Sealed it all nonetheless. Started it last night, used some starter fluid to get it fired up, also had the gas cap off to ensure no vaccum. Carb has been...

    Rear axle seals

Check "stienertractor.com" I get nearly all my parts from them. Just rebuilt my 48' 8n seals a few months ago. If I remember correctly there's an early 48' and a late model 48' early is what mine is and it's just 1 set of seals. Later model thru 52' has inner and outer seals. You'll need to know...

    Performance Troubleshooting

Do you know the manifold bolt size? Think I'll replace those if I'm gonna pull the manifold off again, they were near stripped last time. I did put new gaskets when I did the overhaul, but your right, best place to try next.
