I tried to post a picture of the big old crack in the regulator. It is just to the top of the flat spring there at the left center of the pic. It splits that bolt hole and runs up the top third of the casting. That cant be good for it Walk in peace Tom

    oil pressure 45 B

Looking at it with fresh eyes this morning I saw that the pressure regulator casting that sits on top of the oil filter has a big old (1/8th inch) crack in it at the top. Splits the right front third nearly off in fact. I rekon it must have froze up some condensation at some point and cracked...

    oil pressure 45 B

Im at a loss. I have NO oil pressure to the gauge. The gauge works on another tractor. I turned up the oil pressure screw on top of the oil filter housing, replaced a missing o-ring in the pipe from the pump to the filter, changed the old filter for a brand-new one, cleaned off the screen on the...

I didn't see any binding points, and the governor kicks in strong when it catches, so I was thinking Carb'rator as well. Any suggestions on what to do first? Like I said, about 4 months ago I had it rebuilt, should I do that again rekon? Walk in peace Tom

    45 B

Last August I was given a 45 B that was semi converted to an electric start tractor. After fixing everything I saw obviously wrong and putting it back together from parts gathered and given, I was ready today to try and turn the engine over and see if I could find anything else obviously wrong...

    51 "B" timing question

Same deal on my 45 b. Someone before I got it had put the flywheel on ONE tooth off. When we replaced the flywheel to the proper position, it really made a world of difference. Good luck Walk in peace Tom

    45 B

No cattle, sir, just storage. The Trans oil was drained when I got it in the summer, as well as the engine oil. The reduction gear cover is the cast iron one and there is not a hole to drain into the engine oil. The book says to crack the seal on the cover, catch the oil, replace it with a half...

    45 B

Ya know, I hadn't thought about drilling one for the top to put the oil back in, silly me. Do you recall the sizes of the holes you used? I was thinking about a half inch or so for the drain; I suppose it wouldn't need a great big fill hole for just a half quart of oil, just big enough to get a...

    45 B

No sir, I have it in a barn out of the weather, but it is still COOOOOOOLD. As the weather got colder, I could hear it in the case as I rolled it around. It has totally locked up before as the temps fell lower. I was just worried it would freeze up and crack that casting, not a good thing I'd...

    45 B

When the temp drops to way cold, there is enough condensation in the 1st reduction gear cover to prevent the pulley from turning because it freezes. I see no way to drain the oil from the cover other than taking off the pulley and then cracking open the case letting the oil out. Question is...
