Thanks! I knew it had to do with somthing! Just wasn't sure! Yeah, got a hat washer in the rebuild kit. Didn't know what it was called; that's why I called it a freeze plug!

On the bottom of the bowl, next to the drain, there is a tiny hole that is capped with a freeze plug. Plug is about 3/8"D. Hole is about .040". What is it for and iffen it leaks, like mine does, can a guy plug it solid?

Any hints on checking the ring gear for the rivets? Do these steps sound right? 1) support left side 2)remove wheel (arrrggg) 3)pull axle 4) remove trumpet 5) ? YT doesn't list parts for replacing lost rivets or do they special order them?

Thanks Tom!! I'd never caught that rivet iffn you hadn't mentioned to pull the PTO. I almost didn't but when putting in a new larger one I remembered how easy it was. Now, if you were to 'drop' by, I'd let you show me how to re assemble!!

Dell,YOU wish it was good news! So do I. Guess cleaning the hyd system was a blessing in disguise. Better to find that rivet now than later. Lets see, what # is that on the 50 tips?

Well, I took the top off. What a bunch of crud! Pulled PTO and found the following stuff shown in pics. It looks like a rivet of some kind. The curved 2 pcs are a bronze type of material. Any clues? No hard pulling or PTOing of any kind. Ihave heard a noise similar to dry bearings but nothing...

    Tranny clean-up

I think I'm gonna do the drain thing. I don't want to get too involved. Dismantling requires re assembly and I usually have parts left over! If I knew the system a little better I would do a R&R, but, if you can't weld it I try to leave 'er alone.
