    Another TO-20 charging system question

The wiring diagram in the repair manual I am using does not show an ammeter, just the charging light. My 51 TO-20 did not have a place for it on the dash either so I am guessing the ammeter on your tractor was added.

    Another TO-20 charging system question

Thanks for the info. I did some trial and error and got it figured out.

    Another TO-20 charging system question

Ok, I have searched the forums and have found some great answers but I still have some questions unaswered and some not very well understood. First off this is a 1951 TO-20 with the factory 6v positive ground system. Generator is good and I just replaced the voltage regulator and rewired the...

    1963 4000 diesel valve clearance

Yeah, a rag. But the good news is it was not me that did the deed. I bought the tractor in this condition fearing it will need a engine overhaul and for once I get a lucky break. But then again I have not started it up yet, waiting on a lifter cover gasket. I wish I took a picture of the rag...

    1963 4000 diesel valve clearance

Thanks for the help guys. John_Bud, I did not rebuild the engine. I posted my troubles in another post but long story short I had little compression in #3 cylinder so I began to tear the engine down to determine the problem when I removed the intake manifold I found a shop rag stuck in the #3...

    1963 4000 diesel valve clearance

Well the tractor is now going back together but before I button up the valve cover and install the fuel tank I want to set my valve clearance. Since nobody in my vicinity has a shop manual in stock I was hoping someone here would have the specs. I searced the resources on this web site but only...

    4000 piston sleeve replacement

Well just an update on my situation. After thinking about this all day at work, I got home and stuck my bore scope into the suspect cylinder hoping something would show up. Naturally I see nothing out of place so I begin getting the head ready to pull. I decide to pull the exhaust and intake...

    4000 piston sleeve replacement

Thanks for all the suggestions. About all of the overhaul kits I have looked at say they include sleeves so that is what had me thinking it has sleeves. I was hoping to do most the work myself to save machine shop labor since I already have more money in the tractor than it is worth. I guess I...

    4000 piston sleeve replacement

I have a 1963 4000 diesel that just failed a compression test on cylinder #3. Further test indicate bottom end troubles. I have priced out overhaul kits and they all come with piston sleeves. Can the sleeves be replaced at home or does the block need to go to a machine shop? I have found a tool...

    TO-20 axle seal

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I am new to this site and still learning how to use all of it's resources. I wanted to do a search before posting but did not look hard enough I guess. Thanks for showing me the way. I will read up on the seals and get them ordered tomorrow. Thanks again...

Does a 4600 have enough power??

My 63 4000 did it with the same bailer. Not fast by any means but it beats a mule farting in my face as my neighbor would say. I am sorry but I was mistaken on the baler model. The baler I used was a square baler, New Holland 2?? I think. Not sure I would hook up to a round baler but I...

    ford 4000 4cyl oil pressure

I second that. I noticed my oil pressure dropping after purchasing my 4000 diesel and using it several times. A quick check of the dipstick indicates a much higher oil level than what it was when I changed the oil after buying it. I removed the valve cover, started the tractor and found the fuel...

    TO-20 axle seal

Hello again, I have a TO-20 that has a leaking axle seal. I have yet to pull it apart but have been shopping for replacement axle seals. I have ran across some seals called sure-seal that look to make the repair much easier. My question is have anyone tried these and have any success stories...

    Spark plugs

Thanks for all the information guys. Simple case of over thinking the problem when all I need is a cheap tool that I happen to own, just have to find it. Thanks again for all the help.
