    Haying weather

    I cut all mine yesterday as the forecast says dry for 6 days or more. I waited til yesterday ( Sunday ) because they called for rain Saturday which never arrived.     Auto trans oil temp

    A rule of thumb if you aren't working it hard is 50 degrees cooler than the coolant temp. If you are working it hard it should still stay around the coolant temp or only slightly higher. A newer GM gas truck will flash a warning that trans is overheating at 260 degrees.

    I never thought I would see the day...

    I work on the old stuff but sometimes I wonder why I put myself through it. The rule of thumb that I have found is the old stuff takes twice as long and is 1/2 as profitable.

    Those days are gone...

    I did an alt. on a 2005 Ford Escape V6 the other day, now that is an awful job ! The labor guide says 8.2 hours to replace the alternator only ! There are some tricks and short cuts to drop it to about 3 hours worth of pure misery.

    Rebuilding a 410E Automatic. Something I can do????

    That is a common failure of that era 4L60e trannys, broken sun shell causes no reverse. You could do it, but if it were me I would get the rebuilt unit. One of the most frustrating things is getting it all back in and ready to go, and having something not right. Then you have to start all over...
