    70 gas gauge

This fuel gauge is a JD gauge and worked when the switch was turned on/of until now. Dad's diesel did indeed have the button, but this one never did It worked fine until it didn't. any ideas would be appreciated!!

    70 gas gauge

When I turn on the switch on my gas 70 the gauge goes to full regardless of amount in tank. If this a gauge problem, sender problem or what?

    Front end swap

Watch out for something. With the narrow front end you have 4 bolts doing the turning and twisting to steer. With the wide front end only two connect to the tie rods to do the same thing. Once upon a time one of the two working bolts worked loose and sheared off disking stubble in an airless...

    44 A coolant system question

The '53 70 was pressurized to 5 lb and that was a big deal. Compared to modern radiators it doesn't seem like, much, but if you get barfed on by hot water at 5 lbs it will cook you as good as if it were 15. So, yes indeed pressurize it very little.

    1937 A magneto

you've probably already done this. Move the plug to the other side and see if the problem moves with it. If not, then the wire. Also be sure the wire end is OK and fully seated into the cap, and that it's clean. Since it acted up while running, check that first. Hopefully someone with more...

Styled G fuel line and other questions

We had a '45 G that howled like a wolf in all gears. It was reliable as a trench silo to feed wagon tractor with a model 45 loader for15-20 years and was sold at auction when dad retired. Thirsty as h---but totally reliable.

Long term storage of an all fuel 1953 70

Thanks for all of your input. The item on too much antifreeze is something everyone should consider when adding the stuff as far as loosing cooling efficiency. I'm too darn cheap to use more than I need, but I known people who have used straight antifreeze thinking that's best. Not so! I...

Long term storage of an all fuel 1953 70

I'm facing some health issues and need to store the 70 for awhile. It's under a roof and out of all but the absolute worst weather. I may need to store it for 6 months, or forever. What should I do to make it a runner when someone comes along to sell it to? Drain the tank? Leave it full...

    Oil Drain Plug-John Deere Model 60 2cyl

If all else fails, drill a hole thru it and tap it for a smaller NPT plug. I had to do that for the coolant drain plug on mine. I follow the rule of don't bust nuthin. Good luck!

    JD4020 Revival

Regarding loaders--JD made several universal loaders that would fit many tractors, even IH M etc. But, to fit some tractors, there was a specific kit of front end parts to adapt the loader to the frame. I was advised that a 148 would fit a 70. And it does, after making several parts and...

1944 john deere model A fan shaft

I used C clamps too. Hint: Use best quality C clamps. Don't ask me how I know, but let me add that it's awfully hard to find a keeper that just flew past your nose on its way to hitting the angled roof.

    44 B engine noise

Can you isolate it to one cylinder vs the other by shorting spark plugs? Shorting the plugs may not eliminate it on one side or the other, but it may change the nature of the noise. Advice on flywheel/clutch is dead on too. Good luck, you got a nice machine there!

    730 gas polarity

It was fursure a positive ground leaving Waterloo but the batteries were wired wierd to get 24 V for some things and 12 for others. Or so I recall of my dad's. Depending on what it's electrical system it's set up with now, it's hard to tell. I know a guy who got a tractor with an alterator...
