861 oil bath air cleaner
I have the 861 diesel with the square box oil bath cleaner. I removed the bottom pan and found no oil in the tray. My question is in replacing the filter element how far down in the box does the mesh screen come, down to just above the oil tray? I have a metal square screen at the top then... -

Nothing when starter is disconnected. I have the battery back in with both terminals connected. No spark with the two wires connected. -

Not sure what your asking, help me out. I had the two cables off the solenoid connected together. Battery connected minus the negative battery cable for test. Do you want to disconnect wire at starter and check? -

Well........I cleaned up all the connections, hooked wires together. I could hardly touch the ground to the battery as it arched/sparked, no way could it be attached. It looks to have even melted a corner of the battery post. I assume the problem sits with the starter? Checked battery to... -

The relay I was sold is listed for Ford tractor series 2000-5000. Appears to be the same as the one that was on the tractor, could there be a difference to cause a problem? -

I probably will just use the swing bar that's already attached, probably a lot safer. It is very low but I'm sure it's for a reason, lower center for weight distribution. -

I do have the swinging drawbar (atttached to bottom of rear diff). It would be nice to have the capability to raise and lower for attachment but not at the cost of safety. -
