Just spent $1000 getting brakes on it, new wheel cyls.(8) New Hydrovac, new lines, ect. Don't think its had any brakes in 20 years. Got to...

    Old GMC single axle tractor

I have a 1957 GMC 370. Its a COE_LCF_ or stub nose, whichever you want to call it. Its a 2 1/2 ton single rear axel. Not a 5th wheel for a trailer. The front looks like the one pictured above, with the swing out engine access doors. Its all original and came with the Pontiac 270 straight 6 cyl...

    What are these machines worth?

I cannot see a serial tag on the 420. If its missing, collectors will not be intrested. Its only value will be if you want to keep it. You can get replacement tags from Deere, but they are a joke (nothing like the originals). That appears to be a 420T with optional wide front. The tag may be...

    420 All Fuel

I have a 420W serial number 86925. Does anyone have the info to tell if this tractor came out an All-Fuel model? Only thing it has is the oil pan with petcock. No other clues, no extra hole in hood, ect. I posted this on the other site and no help, except to have 2-Cyl to research it, and that...

    40 hydraulics

The drifting down is probably caused by worn piston seals, then the draft control causes it to jump back up. If you have the service manual, you could try changing the crossover valve lever, under the seat, to dual or single operation and see if this stops it. Could be just one piston causing...

    Carb adjustment

If your tractor is an M, Mt, 40, 420, 430 with the marvel s. carbureator. The L shaped needle on bottom of carb. is the load needle. Manual says with tractor in neutral, throttle in wide open position, turn the L shaped screw IN until engine sputters,,,then OUT, one or one and half turns will...

    John Deere 40 vineyard?

Couldnt find your photo of the axels. But if it has a serial tag it should have 40s 40v 40w 40u ect. Just looking at the rear picture, the depth control and final drives and fenders, it looks like a 40w. If it is a 40w, then the rear axels have been cut off probably, because the 40w was a...

    JD 420

The service manual covers this. Adjustment is made by removing or adding washers inside the oil pump. Just remember, if you remove the oil pump, you will have to reset the timing with the distributor.
