John Deere 40 vineyard?

Hello, I found a John Deere 40u that was used in vineyards, and has narrowed rear axles and a very narrow wide front on it. Is this a rare option or something just put together? It looks factory to me, I was searching around and just couldn"t find anything on a narrowed up 40. THanks in advance gentlemen. Will include a pic of rear axles to help out.

Couldnt find your photo of the axels. But if it has a serial tag it should have 40s 40v 40w 40u ect.
Just looking at the rear picture, the depth control and final drives and fenders, it looks like a 40w. If it is a 40w, then the rear axels have been cut off probably, because the 40w was a two-row tractor.
The 40w are fairly rare tractors, only built in 1955.

Not sure about the 40 but I know the M (the 40's "father") can get down to a 38 inch rear tread width. The standard non-adjustable front axle for the M also had a 38 inch track.
