Lawn mower (tractor) maintenance - Anybody else do this?
Probably because a sharp blade will chip....add some thickness to the cutting edge helps to eliminate that. Agree with you on sharp blades. I keep them sharp and avoid mowing GRAVEL! -

I've had several surgeries and lots of freezing sprays. Too bad that the damage is done when you are young (and stupid). Same for the eyeballs....had both cataracts recently replaced.......sunglasses??????? What that??????- Texasmark

Mine came with the deluxe seat but recalling it wasn't suspension. I'd have to move up another $1k to get in that neighborhood and $7k for a lawn mower, 10 or so years ago, was high enough for me. -

Deck wash port on mowers
On the getting up off the floor, I share your grief somewhat....don't have that much pain, just no strength in muscles I used to take for granted.....and having something to get my arms in the act really does help. -

The biggest thing that I remember about farming and books, early on in my life, was a picture and explanation of "contour plowing", and I was a well-un-educated city boy at the time. Never forgot the picture and when I became a farmer, used the principle.- Texasmark

Bears - Wolves - Alligators
Have been lucky here in N. Tx. but earlier this spring a couple of funny things happened. Was moving round hay bales and noticed 5 eggs between where a couple of bales were sitting. Deck wash port on mowers
Not worth the effort. Early on, I bought sets for my older mowers which is what I used before they came standard on some decks and they make a big mess and sweep out clippings but don't do a complete job so I abandoned that effort. On my newer stamped decks I have them but don't use them. -

Lots of comments. A lot of them I have/had shared. I like 46" dual blade mowers, especially newer ones that seem to have the blades geared up to higher RPMs which helps to sweep the clippings out....even wet ones. The absence of the 3rd blade in the middle goes a long way in allowing... -

My rural system recently said that they had to up theirs to 85# due to the number of people moving into the area and people griping about low water pressure.....when I heard that, I bought and installed a 50# pressure regulator at the outlet of my meter....My 45+ year old PVC needs to hang in... -

Cub with Cab
Cabs tend to fit the size of the tractor in length and width, especially width.....per my experiences. So the cab off a large tractor would be hanging over big time on both sides.- Texasmark
