    What happened to pickups??

New vehicle commercials dominate the advertising when I watch TV. No wonder...... I don't know how anybody can afford to buy one at today's prices with all the gadgets that designers decided the motoring public needed......and then comes the insurance bill to cover all those gadgets!!!!!!!

    What happened to pickups??

10 speed transmission????? Back when you had a Chevy OHV "hot water" six and "3 on the tree" I felt that Overdrive Transmissions were the answer. I can't imagine listening/feeling a 10 speed go through its routine. Neighbor has a RAM with 6 speed and takes his kids to school (during the...

Need to replace my headgasket, looking for instructions

On replacing the head gasket, I usually checked the flatness of the head and if not flat, off to the machine shop......and if I had the head off, off to the machine shop anyway to have the valves tuned up. I use Copper Coat spray on both sides of the gasket. Torque in 3 sweeps, last one being...

Need to replace my headgasket, looking for instructions

I was a "senior citizen" before I learned what you said here......I wasted a lot of time, water and antifreeze over the years not knowing that before the sealed systems with the OEM overflow tank.

    What happened to pickups??

I bought a 2 year old 1971, or 2 (forget which) Chevy 4 door top of the line station wagon with the "EPA" detuned 400 big block POS engine. Had 4 kids, a boat and took vacations. I currently have a 2011 Silverado 4 door, 2 seat, 1500 PU and NO WAY would I prefer the former to the...

    What happened to pickups??

I'm long time retired but when I go where parking could be close, I drive my Honda Element. Tired of parking lot dings on my otherwise pristine, garage kept 2011 Silverado with 48k miles.

    What happened to pickups??

I had been (and still do) running double cab or extended cab trucks since 1998. About 10 years ago I was in a Dodge dealer and there was this regular cab, short bed, HEMI engined, plum colored truck with flashy wheels sitting in the lot in plain view. I had to have it and bought it. Big...

Current Update on Poison Hemlock investigation.

If you are replying to me, Amine is supposed to be the water based product and I never had a problem around trees with it. The problem was with Grazon P+D....the Piclorate part was the problem as I understand.

Being stranded and walking home...scooter in the trunk?

I had problems with my starter on a Ford 2000. Did the usual things and no help. Took it to a local guy that fixes them for a hobby....still no help. A good smack when in the cranking mode would get it going. Apparently the armature shaft was worn to the point that new bearings didn't solve...

My comment too. I saw that roller in the front and curious as to its purpose. The article solved that mystery for me.

Interesting Subject that may be of interest to you.

For something weighing a posted 8+ tons, I think the article mentioned that the M3 had a 157 HP engine....for that kind of fuel consumption gears must have been higher than 4:11.

3910 - What is the procedure to remove and inspect/clean hydraulic screen?

What screen....it isn't an 8N, 100, or 1000 series. It has a spin on filter under the left foot rest. Ford finally pulled their head out of their..............

    Sub Soiler

I bought a Hay King Pasture Renovator. Has coulters to break sod and shanks about a foot apart. Aerates the soil without tearing up the surface and breaks Costal Bermuda Grass runners making more plants and better pasture. It cuts down about 10" and runs about 10 HP per shank. If you do it...

Longest pocket tape measure I have ever seen

I have a couple of 35's along with numbers shorter and a couple of 6 footers. Also have 100' tapes for building jobs but they aren't pocket items. Most of my "pocket" tapes get clipped on my pocket or belt.
