    JD 510 backhoe transmisson problems

I"m trying to trouble shoot the problems on a Jonh Deere 510 backhoe/loader. Serial # 260252T, it will grind when trying to put it into gear. I know this tractor has a transmission filter and no one knows when the last time is that it has been replaced. Obviously the first thing wouldbe a...

I will no longer do business with external_link

Hey Bob, did you get a Head gasket set, tune up kit and Disty parts? If so it was prob mine. I had placed an order about 2 years ago and did not receive it. I called and they promptly refilled the order with no problem.

OT - Best way to break up 4" conc sidewalk?

I'd go with the saw and the tractor with some "manure forks" on the loader. Can cut the concrete to desired size and remove large clean sections. Jack hammer is gonna break it up and leave you with a lot of clean up. Took out about 75' x 4' x 4-6" concrete couple of years ago with just a sledge...

801 for sale in my neighborhood-should I think about it?

CJ, if you decide to pass on the 801 can you tell me where and how much their asking? I"ve been looking for something larger since my 9N motor blew a rod. Thanks, Tim, Brighton MI

    motor hand crank

The following applies to a Model A, but there are some similarities. Pay attention to hand position to prevent injury in event of kick back. Always grip the crank with the thumb wrapped below with the fingers. NEVER push the crank down the right side of the rotation! Starting a Model A...

801 SOS to standard trans swap questions.

OK Jim (or any one) where is the first place to start? The engine runs but the tractor doesn't move. So on an 801 with SOS where would you start? I did stop and take another look at the tractor today and saw a wire going from the battery ground terminal and wrapped around a wire going into the...

801 SOS to standard trans swap questions.

From what I've been told about this 801 is the PO was mowing and the tractor stopped moving. Current owner hasn't done anything with it other than park it out in the field. I know I can have the SOS rebuilt. But I'm not gonna lay out that much cash. If I buy the tractor I wanna make sure I have...

801 SOS to standard trans swap questions.

Looking at possibly buying an 801 with a Selectospeed trans. I know Arthurs in PA said it can be converted to a standard trans. What I would like to know is what parts would I need to do the conversion? Also what series tractors could these parts come from? I've been watching Fleabay and CL...

The search for a replacement begins

I'm not sure how long it has set, I'm guessing a few years. I did find out the a SOS trans rebuild worst case senario is about $2,000 and goes up from there, granted it could be something simple and be couple hundred. The same place (meyerstown PA i think it was) said to convert it to a 5 speed...

The search for a replacement begins

As you may have seen from Sundays post I blew a rod through the block of my 9N. I've been making some calls and researching my options. One old friend that I called said he had a good running 2N and an 8N with a bad trans, $1500 for the 2N, 8N price was not discussed. Thought the 8N to be my...

9N, This is Bad, This is Bad Bad!

No sentimental attachment, I'm looking at all my options right now. Cost is driving my decisions. Going to look at a 8N with bad trans and "strong" motor. Not sure of actuall cost yet. Will consider it because i can try to fix the trans issue, or if it comes down to it just swap the motors and...

9N, This is Bad, This is Bad Bad!

Called external_link on Monday, about $2400 for a rebuilt motor. Not sure if i really want to invest that much.
