Rear link arms castellated nut question!

Thanks again John - that’s useful to know, yes I’ve just done some searching and looks like I can get the straight shanked one (original pre serial number 300,000 or so) I’ve got to take the trumpet housing off in any case (well at least the axles themselves out to fit sure seals) so might as...

Rear link arms castellated nut question!

Thanks John Deere D , I should have mentioned in the post it’s a TED20 ( uk built ) but looks very much the same process as your manuals for the 35, seems like I’ll need to tighten that nut on the other side but as far as stopping the leak goes from that cover plate would you try gasket sealant...

Rear link arms castellated nut question!

Hi , bit confused here… I’ve got an oil leak from the plate where the rear link arms join the trumpet housing , that’s my first query, how do I fix this? my second dilemma is in order to do so I’m guessing I’ll need to remove trumpet housing but trying to undo the castellated nut I am turning...

    Cracked engine block

Thanks Steve - yes agree the putty isn’t quite liquid enough , I did drain the block and then hot air gun to dry it out followed by cleaning out the crack with a die grinder, and then clean throughly with brake cleaner and airline before putting putty in. It does seem to be holding in that place...

    Cracked engine block

Thanks both 👍 so today I’ve ground out the area with a small die grinder (pics below) sealed it with JB Weld Steelstik (at the same time wondering if I’d be best using the two pack epoxy!) but result, it sealed fine and ran for 15 mins with no sign of any water. Bad news is it’s now leaking...

    Cracked engine block

Got to the end of A full rebuild and discovered I’ve got a crack in the block just behind carb where oil breather pipe enters, and radiator fluid leaking through very slightly. Looks like a previous repair has been done at some point but now wondering if this is salvageable with grinding out and...

    TED20 rebuild

Can anyone please give me the bolt sizes / lengths for the bell housing to engine ? I seem to be missing 2 of these. I know some are longer than others so even just the width would be helpful! Many thanks

    TED20 rebuild

Thanks - did it your way in the end ! Those rope seals were a bind !! Anyway job done and agree it doesn’t make sense trying to fit it without removing big end bearing

    TED20 rebuild

Hi again , crankshaft oil seal question please?! Ive seen videos of installing this with the sump on and sliding it in place with grease although having great trouble getting the seal in the tight space without damaging it ! I’ve got the engine out on a stand is it easier to remove sump again...

    TED20 rebuild

Metal , a light grey (so not copper) then coated in loctite 515 flange sealant which in fairness seems to have worked well - water tested block with towel underneath over night and water in block (liners held down with bolts and washers), no leaks at all

    TED20 rebuild

Thanks , yes mine is the Standard British engine. That all makes sense, ive got protrusion all round 4 sides of each liner from all but 1 corner of 2 of the liners where it is slightly lower (level) i wondered if these 2 low spots will even out when I torque head down properly and I’ll “loose”...

    TED20 rebuild

Thanks all , not worth getting too worried about it by the sounds of things! Next issue , I’ve now thoroughly cleaned liner seats and installed the new figure of 8 liner gaskets and new liners. Test fitted one set dry and measured out perfectly. Annoyingly, I then used a second set (being ultra...

    TED20 rebuild

Hi all just after some advice on the rebuild I’m doing I rescued the tractor from a hedge where it had stood for 20 years or more, managed to free up the engine and start it but soon discovered water in the oil. Decided to go ahead with a full rebuild as suspected the liner seals. ive now got...
