Any thoughts why moving 971 SOS PTO speed doesn t change wile moving the lever under tie top cover? Valve plunger is moving.- traxtor

Gotcha-I can see how that would cause the issue. Moving the lever by hand without the cable still offers no change in PTO. I can see the valve travel in and out while moving the lever by hand. Cable moves freely in conduit. No snags. Appreciate the feedback!- traxtor

Good suggestion Showcrop-thank you. I did test and the 2x4 does not stop the PTO. Moving the lever the cable screws into by hand does not appear to change the PTO speed. I will be getting back under the top cover, I believe, to make an adjustment on the PTO cable. It's a little messy leaving the...- traxtor

Ford 971 Select O Speed
Update 971 160,xxx: In-frame rebuild is done and the 172 is holding above 40# oil pressure. Temp stays right in the mid-green. Select o speed indicator is pretty well tuned in and shifts smooth. New fluid trans fluid - filter - lower drain screen cleaned. Thanks for the good help up to this...- traxtor

Ford 971 SOS 160xxx PTO Cable Handle
Yes-I saw that. Just got in after disassembling. The cable itself unthreaded from the handle shaft, after slowly working it with a channel lock. Im going to need o replacement conduit. Looking to change the PTO cable handle on my SOS. I have a spare one from salvage but cannot figure out how to separate my current handle from cable so I can reinstall my replacement handle to it. It appears to unthread to a point but stops. Thanks- -

SOS 971 160xxx S/N finding Park
Tinkered last evening to set remount my adjuster. While installing and positioning from speed 10 to Park I could feel the transmission shift. When complete my selector was in speed 8 with my safety switch illumination the light for Park. Ive read a few posts including one by sue metz. Read my... -

Doing ok on getting my 971 together. Selector was off by two speed levels. While in Park on selector SOS was in Neutral. I could persuade via selector into R2. Working with lower cable on cam wheel the cable came out. Removed Top Cover to reset SOS so I would know what speed it was in. Using... -
